Good thing I'm adhering to a strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind limber.

It's close to a no brainer. Drouin is a stud.
- GirouxForTheShow

That he is, but is NOT what the Flyers need. I'd only touch Mackinnon or Drouin as trade pieces. I'd draft one of them, if the Flyers were lucky enough to get those pics, and trade them instantly for pieces we need.

Continuing to find good prospects in this draft.............

"The Philadelphia Flyers have traded the #2 overall pick in the 2013 NHL entry draft for Garrett Klotz."

He's a good project, we think he can be a power forward in the NHL and help outr team for years to come.

That's foolish. They aren't exactly tearing it up in the goal scoring category either.

I wouldn't have a problem if Holmgren traded picks away for young player(s) who are part of a long term plan. Where I (and most) would have the problem is if picks were traded for veteran type rentals. That would make zero sense.

I'd take Drouin and trade stuff on the roster. Drouin could be the next Giroux. I take that in a heartbeat and trade other items. He'd step in and easily be one of the most talented players on the roster....you don't trade that.

Well they aren't in the market for rentals this year. I can't remember Holmgren trading picks for rentals so I'd venture to say that's an old problem.

Kubina last year was a rental. And there is a chance Gagne this year is a rental.

Just going by what I have read Drouin will be the most NHL ready player drafted. I wouldn't have a problem if the Flyers took him instead of Jones. Most likely a moot point, the odds of them having a top 3 pick are miniscule.

Only one that comes to mind is Kubina. Versteeg was kind of a rental; I don't recall him ever actually playing for the Flyers.

Others are NHL or close to it as well he is the most talented but not the only one.

Versteeg wasn't meant to be a rental but man he blew in Toronto and sucked here.

Hope so. He's played pretty well. Wouldn't mind him back provided it's no more than 2 yrs at a favorable cap hit.

If their season was over today they could pick anywhere from 3rd to 7th with a good chance of moving to 1.

This is true, but if I knew I could land a big D or things we need right now, I would. I personally don't seem him being as effective on the wing, and as everyone knows we're loaded at center.

Just something to consider. I'd maybe put him as part of a package and try and pry Weber out of Nashville... Again... lol.

Pretty deep draft from what I have ascertained. You have the big 4. Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon, and Barkov. And some very other talented kids. I have read that outside the top 10, there is a fairly significant drop off in talent.

I'd say pretty impossible to get a top 3 pick if we make the playoffs.

So yeah, that discussion is a moot point.

You think we're making the playoffs? At what point, after the last two weeks, do you give up the dream?
