it was cool of him to stay late and sign autos i thought. it was from 3-4 I didn't get up there till like 4:30 and didn't get the signing for another 20 minutes. Even Bernie didn't stay that late. Yup that's right I missed Bernie...

I haven't met many Flyers. I'm not big on collectibles/autographs etc... I did meet Tim Kerr once a while back down in Cape May. Super nice guy. He talked to me for a good 15 minutes answered all my questions.

Tim Kerr always seemd like a decent guy in interviews. When I met Matt Read last year, he was more interested in what I did etc..I laughed.. very nice and humble guy.

I'm not really either but I like the experience of meeting and interacting with the players. I don't think my son really appreciated it as much but he will later. The only player he cares about right now is Giroux. In fact when we got up to the room where they did the signings he was yelling Giroux's name at hartnell Itll be a story for him to tell later too. er maybe not

In the interviews I have seen with Read he comes across as a very humble guy. Kerr was impressed I recognized him and knew he was the only Flyer to ever score 50+ goals in 4 consecutive seasons.

I hear you. I have met a ton of athletes, I usually work security at a fan expo where there are a ton of athletes signing for fans. I don't get star struck, but it is cool to interact with these guys.

something else about meeting them, hockey players I consider to be the toughest athletes out of the 4 major sports, i'm sorry but football stops for 40 seconds between plays and it has devolved into two hand touch these days. I've met football players and they are giants, i wouldn't mess with them. Hockey players are tall but they are skinny, I wouldn't be intimidated by them in the least if I didn't know them, kinda weird.

I agree. My buddy is a Leafs fan and a Patriots fan.. He's abandoned the Leafs the last 8 years and now says hockey sucks and that they are wussies compared to Footballl.???. he's an idiot, but what do you expect from a fan of a team with a QB who needs his wife to defend him in the media when he chokes in the SB? hahah

Kreese: Sweep the leg.
[Johnny stares at him in shock]
Kreese: Do you have a problem with that?
Johnny Lawrence: No, Sensei.
Kreese: No mercy.

I saw Danny Carcillo at a bar once and frankly, he looked like a skinny homeless guy.

A crazy, slightly insane, skinny, homeless guy. But a skinny, homeless guy nonetheless.

Football players have become prima donna's in my book. I thought it was only possible in basketball and baseball but Hockey seems to be the last of the mohicans. Hopefully the fact that there is no ball in its name means that the prissy types will stay out.

whats the consensus for Erik Gudbranson? Untouchable? Possibility?
he hasn't really lived up to his contract at this point and will get a raise. Plus, i know he almost didn't sign his ELO contract and threatened to go back into the draft. Not sure if he is happy there or just wasn't getting the money he wanted.

This would be over 10 years ago, but I was walking on a glass-enclosed bridge between two hotels in downtown Boston. It was pretty much empty.

And then I notice coming the other way is Tim Hunter. Hard to miss him because of his nose. So I kinda smile and chuckle, thinking "hey, it's Tim Hunter."

And then I think, "Oh my God, what if Tim Hunter thinks I'm laughing at his nose?" He was about 2 feet taller than me, and out-weighed me by 100 lbs.

So I walked by him and nodded, and he nodded back.

True story.

Kreese: What do we study here?
Karate Class: THE WAY OF THE FIST SIR.
Kreese: And what is that way?
Karate Class: STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY SIR.
Kreese: I can't hear you.
Karate Class: STRIKE FIRST. STRIKE HARD. NO MERCY SIR.

I'd like to watch that movie again - strictly to drool over Elizabeth Shue - but I can't bear the thought of watching Ralph Not Machio acting tough.

That, and throughout the entire movie, he wears his pants just below his armpits.

I do too. He would be an upgrade for sure. My wish list would be to have him or Emery as the backup.
