He wouldn't, and Calgary would not want him either...for the same reasons I don't want him, but a guy can dream. - Ogilthorpe2
I like Sharp but I think the team can live without him and he'd be good trade bait to get us that key player for the playoff run.
As well getting rid of that sweetheart deal of a contract would not be such a bad thing. I think that 5.9 million could be better used in the off season....Corry Perry anyone? Think about it for a second. |

If you want to clean up the game then ACTUALLY test for steroids. I am sure a bunch of abusers are on Boston, LA, and St. Louis. People who cheat are the lowest forms of life on the planet and nobody really cares - tomcat24

I think the way to clean up the game is get rid of the players union.
It is what controls the players. |

Anyone watch/go to the Hogs-Wolves game today? I had it on TV but didn't have the sound up. Quite a brawl at the end of the game. SMith checked int the door - it opened, and the wolves player fell on top of him into the bench. It looked like Morin started beating the guy, and then other wolves junped in the bench.
Knowing the Wolves are associated with Vancouver makes me hate them, even though they are a local team. - powerenforcer

Yeah - let's leave it completely in the hands of the owners, who care so much about the good of the game. |

Besides everything else you have to wonder about a concussion almost every time.
Hawks have been very fortunate with Seabrook seldom being hurt.

First, yes played plenty of check hockey. I am aware of all the values you and others mention. There is a big difference in my book between playing physical hockey as the game dictates and running around like fools and trying to take peoples heads off.
I have been one of the most consistent regarding the Hawks PP being a huge issue, going back over a year now. Especially considering the style they want to play.
While the Bruins are a tough team, they also have their hands ful matching up with the Hawks. Charra is similar to Pronger, in that once you get past him, you have an average defence and one that is slow of foot. Balanced scoring and skill make the Hawks tough to match up with. Charra cant skate the whole game and be effective.
Nowhere in any of my posts have I said don't try to improve the team or get tougher, but this straw man/dream world idea of adding all these "big" guys as though they are falling off of trees and actually blend in with your team game is for the most part fantasy land. That is why I have proposed guys like Hendricks and look for other specific type guys that add a little more character. Hendricks can do all Mayers can and more and actually skate up and down the ice with the rest of the team.
This idea that the Cannucks were totally outmatched and blown out of the rink is revisionist history. Tim Thomas won the series for the Bruins. He outplayed Luongo. Yes Sedins were quiet and there was the challenge to scoring, but to say they were just blown away and played a 7 game series is hyperbole in my book.
I get the whole grind thing and those that fear the Kings or Bruins, and we will lose our spirit mindset, I just think that is simply ridiculous. The way many talk about the Hawks as if they are just a bunch of weak bantam kids playing against men is another exaggeration.
I hear all the wish talk of getting that big guy or grinder or whatever, what I do not hear are names and what subtractions one would make to obtain these guys. In my opinion, much of the talk is akin to me sitting on my couch saying, man I wish I had a million dollars. Does not mean I am against improving the team or adding some toughness, but lets keep some perspective. And most importantly stop running away from being the team we are and how and why we are successful. - TrueGrit
I have never talked about stupid hockey but just a couple of physical guys who can balance out the roster.
As for Pronger, valid point, but until Byfuglien emasculated him Pronger was running roughshod and was, until that point, the focal part of that series. The Hawks have no answer to a Pronger or a Chara now.
In the 2011 series yes Thomas stood on his head and yes he outplayed Luongo, who has always had issues in the post season. But why did the Sedins, the Canucks most important players, disappear? Was that revisionist history or was that two players not having the stomach to play in a series where players were focusing on them specifically? And on paper, as you like to show the current Hawk roster, who was the faster more talented team, Vancouver or Boston? Then let’s go back a few seasons when the Ducks physically manhandled the Sens to win the cup. |

ok, take a step back, see what transpires from now till past the trade deadline. it doesn't sound like SB will do anything . sharp will probably be back around then so bowman will spin that and say adding him back is like making a trade without giving anyone up.
sounds like some of you think we can go toe to toe with the bruins in a 7 game series. i would love for the hawks to add a guy like milan lucic, that is the only ingrediant we're missing. everything else seems solid.
okay if we win all is good, but if we get rung up by the blues, ducks or kings, in the 1st round, which I think is a good bet to happen, then what?

But Boston didhave a lights out penalty kill, the Hawks don't.
The reason the Hawks need a power play is because without a real physical team they need something to prevent teams from physically manhandling them. If they don't have some physicality in the lineup then they need a good powerplay. |

I think we got Morin and Kevin Hayes for Buff. That Russian bum (forget his name) and Clendening for Ladd. Clendening can still save that deal.
On the other hand, the Leddy/Barker trade was a win for Stan and parlaying Versteeg into Stalberg I'd say is most likely a win since Vik has become a nice player for the Hawks the past few years and Steeger has been a disappointment in his 3 NHL homes since the Hawks. |
