Seabs should have beat his ass....it worries me that he didn't
- southernhawk

It is irrelevant he did not. Don't read into any of it.

Seabrook was too casual...Wrote same today.

Officials should have sent Roussel off for 10 long before....

>Don't want one of my top pairing D-men in any fights this time of year unless it absolutely must happen -- Seabs is a big reason we won the Cup

My goodness, why should we even play another game this year if the other team might try to hit us.

You lost last spring because you carried the play and were 1 for 19 on the power play. That is why you lost. Regardless of CC's two soft OT goals, he kept his team in the game and gave them a chance to win.

The hawks by and large have done a nice job of finishing checks on the forecheck all year, you continue that and more importantly control the puck more often then not, on balance we win.

- TrueGrit

Gigantic hole in your logic.

Did the Hawk power play suck that bad, or was Mike Smith really good? As I recall, what that series came down to is the Hawks' D getting rattled in their end under a fierce forecheck, Hawk "finesse" forwards getting forced to pay on the perimeter. And Smith outplaying Crawford. Hossa injury and Shaw suspension did not help.

Essentially, you're at least implying it was all on the Hawk power play units, but their goalie was no better than Crawford. That is wishful thinking and wrong.

JJ have you heard that the hawks are inquiring about Max Talbot?
- southernhawk

Believe I have heard that though not specifically from a source. Something that's out there, may or may not have validity.

>With every passing year, the Bruins Cup win gets blown out of proportion
>The Bs LOST 12 playoff games and won 4 game sevens!
>Great goaltending and a lotta luck to win 4 game sevens
>Bs greatest strength is their group of Centers -- it's what really makes them tough
>Hawks can help their D avoid the feared "pounding" by having their forwards be more committed to "legal obstruction" of forecheckers
>Hate to say it but the refs will play a big role in how this year's playoff hockey goes -- what kind of game are they going to call?
>BlueJackets obstructed the Hawks forecheck all game the other night and didn't get any penalties

It was obvious that Smith played out of his mind. There is no doubt the injury to Hossa and Shaws suspensions did not help either. While my implication is that the PP was a huge problem, it does not mean there were not other issues. Those other issues outside of game 6 were a wash in my book. Did not mean to imply that the goaltending was a wash in performance, but on scoreboard they were. My overall point is that playing our game dictated the flow of every game and gave us plenty opportunities to win games. Given the improvements in team defense and more balance, on the margin, will put the team over the top in similar situations this year.

Sharp for Iggy. Win a cup, shed a loser of a cap hit, and avoid Salary Cap Hell Part II. Done.

Why would Sharp waive his no-trade to go to Calgary?

Don't forget that #19 came back prematurely from a concussion and really had no business playing in that series. He was nowhere close to 100%, probably wasn't even close to 70%. Add in bad goaltending, your 1B best player being decapitated in game 3 and overall just not as good of team as this year's bunch. At the same time you have to give the Yotes some credit too, not only did they oust the Hawks but they dismantled the trendy Cup pick (Nashville) in round 2.

Personally I think this year's Hawks are just a different animal, they're better in every aspect of the game. Like most I hope Bowman makes a move or two to improve the team but honestly I have a very hard time seeing another team beat the Hawks in a 7 game series. Doesn't mean it won't happen but right now I view them as the favorite.

I'd be all over Talbot, but I imagine Philly would ask for an arm and a leg. Talbot and Shaw on the third line would be awesome....talk about grit!

Watching Washington's PP (against Buffalo) - four players revolving around Brouwer in the slot, puck moving, players moving - does Kompon ever watch teams with successful power plays?

Why would Calgary - given their situation - want Sharp instead of youth and potential?

Anyone watch/go to the Hogs-Wolves game today? I had it on TV but didn't have the sound up. Quite a brawl at the end of the game. SMith checked int the door - it opened, and the wolves player fell on top of him into the bench. It looked like Morin started beating the guy, and then other wolves junped in the bench.

Knowing the Wolves are associated with Vancouver makes me hate them, even though they are a local team.

Morin's been on fire lately. I hope Q finds a way (without any additional injuries) to bring up Morin this season.

In Regulation I thought Smith and Crawford were pretty equal. Hawks had edge in play and shots, but most were perimeter and not really tough saves. Crawford had the tougher saves. Smith only had to make some tough ones in game 6. Crawford sucked in ot, however

Yeah that was a craxy end to the game! I expect to see Morin get suspended for a few games. Its a shame because Morin along with Pirri looked realy good today.

He wouldn't, and Calgary would not want him either...for the same reasons I don't want him, but a guy can dream.

Can someone ask Sharpie why he doesn't play center? There are members here who have availability to the players themselves, or people close to the players.

I think some of you commented on this in anothr thread. But I want to address this from the perspective of the psss poor oficiating that goes on in this league gme afer gme. Here you have 2 bruins taunting and engaging Hendricks and no penalties are called prior to the fight. I can't stand the way Bruins play the gme with big bad ass cheap style which starts with Julian.

You want to clean up this gme then start enforcing the rules correctly and fill up the penalty box. This type of play and all the after whistle slashing, crosschecks etc. needs to be eliminated.

JJ,
Is it a coincidence that the Hawks have a number of siblings in their system, (Terry/Alex Broadhurst, Wade/Sheldon Brookbank, Jimmy/Kevin Hayes), or does this happen often with other teams bringing up talented brothers through the organization?

If you want to clean up the game then ACTUALLY test for steroids. I am sure a bunch of abusers are on Boston, LA, and St. Louis. People who cheat are the lowest forms of life on the planet and nobody really cares
