Because Kunitz and Dupuis clearly suck playing with him.
/sarcasm

but seriously, why break up what is maybe the best line in the NHL right now?

The Pens looked great without Letang today. They should trade him to Philly.

- Marc D

i worry that the flyers are going to be the team to give him that huge deal next year. would literally be devastating. i truly believe you add letang to this flyers team and they have at least a few more wins right now.

he wouldn't be another candidate to take a "hometown" discount to continue playing with "Cindy" & Gino?

yea I think do nothing is probably best.

might be able to send Gagne, Fedotenko, or Knuble for some picks.

gotta upgrade the defense long term though.

- SuperHenderson13

That's what I do just because they need the picks to get some system depth & learn how to develop.

Who would look great in net for the Flyers, especially since he cannot stop Sidney Crosby in clutch situations and big games?

of the Neal-Malkin-Crosby-MAF-Letang core, I think he is the least likely to take a hometown discount. If he leaves as a UFA (don't think it will happen, I think Shero either signs him this summer or trades him) but if he does leave, I could see him go to Montreal.

Puck moving defensemen that also play a decent physical and defensive game aren't easy to find so Shero could def. get a good haul for him, probably better than Staal's package, but the Penguins def. have the prospects to take over for him in a few years.

That 20% ownership by ESPN has more influence than one would think.

are we still talking about trading for Talbot...?

you would be lucky to get a 3rd and a 5th for him.

- SuperHenderson13

I'm not sure what the return would be. But I agree with you. Not likely to get a top prospect or a top draft pick for Talbot.

I know we were basically suggestion to shoot for the stars but mainly look at picks in a return

Yeah, just basically saying that if the Pens had an interest, it would cost them more than, say, San Jose or Phoenix.

Honestly, If I had to choose, I would keep him MAF, Neal & either one of Cindy or Gino,
I know you have young guys in the system, but he's a proven commodity & you can't replace a guy like him anytime soon.
I always thought that either one of Cindy or Gino would have to go because of salary cap situation, tough paying 2 forwards $17 mill

Nope. IIRC they didn't extend an offer to anyone from the camp that they didn't already own the rights to
