Why doesn't Myers play on the #1 PK unit and Weber does?
Weber has been well worth his 950,000 this season and needs to be resigned in my opinion.
We also need 1 more dman in Weber's mold. I hope that dman is Mcnabb. - BuffaloHardHat
Which is why we are one of the worst teams in the league, because our 6th guy is the most trusted defender right now. Not to mention that is slowly changing with Sekera in the lineup and Myers playing much better lately |

I never said grit was meaningless. I said it was meaningless without top end talent first. They definitely had the perfect mix of skill and grit, but they achieved it by acquiring the "skill" part first. We seem obsessed with doing it backwards. - buffalofan19
Agreed. Just ask the Bills. They have been doing it for years |

Myers has been playing better lately?
Not in my opinion.
I think we have seen what Myers truly is the last few years.
If Darcy was smart enough which is a conversation all in itself, he would try to unload Myers now.
I know I would. I think Myers is what we have seen and he is really nothing special.
Before he loses all his luster much like Stafford I would put him on the market ASAP and not look back especially with that contract which is only going to get harder and harder to move.
McCabe can be Myers and much better in my opinion. |

Your case study on a rebuild will come from Columbus.
They hired legit hockey operations guy/GM and made strides to acquire top end draft picks. |

How would we have idea? Myers won a calder at 19 yeard old. McCabe is 3 years away from being in the NHL and is already 19. Myers hasn't been anywhere near a bust, is he a Norris candidate, certainly not. But look at his numbers since he got benched, he's been a plus player and has scored a few big goals |

Always loved watching Jarmo walk up to the podium on draft day, and just matter-of-factly state who the Blues were picking. No emotion, no nothing.
Great hire in C-Bus. |

Maybe. He will definitely play a year in the AHL before the NHL, and he will play another year of college. Hopefully he can make a smooth transition like Flynn has so far |

I like Flynn so far.
Nothing against Porter (who I would prefer on the 4th line), because the kid hustles his ass off, but I would love to see Flynn with a better option at center. Our 3rd line center has got to put up more than 1 point every ten games (in over 15 minutes of ice). |

Was Pittsburgh that way before they landed Crosby and Malkin? What about Chicago before Toews, Kane, and Keith? If this trainwreck of a season lands the Sabres one of Drouin, MacKinnon, or Seth Jones, and they are as good as advertised, and eventually gets them back into championship contention, then it will all be worth it. I don't care how "tough" they are or aren't. If you don't win, you fail, period. - buffalofan19

Way to go Darcy you traded a 2nd round pick and turned it into a 5th. Pure genius. |

If you're looking it as black and white, then yes, it's not good.
However, what the hell has Brennan done? He is a one-trick pony who can barely hit the net with that "howitzer" of his. And he's barely hanging on in his own end.
There are thousands of 2nd rounders (and 1st rounders, for that matter) who didn't pan out. Will Brennan pan out? Who knows, and at this point, who cares? I'd rather have Pardy or McNabb up here.
And instead of putting the kid on waivers (which he probably would have had to do anyway) and lose him for nothing, at least he received an asset back.
And by clearing Brennan out of here, Darcy may be setting himself up for another, bigger deal. |

I don't think it's that bad of a trade the pick will be a late 4th round pick.
I wish all the best to TJ ..

Brennan was basically a 1st rounder. Not to mention our first pick in that draft that year. Detroit always get's their money's worth on picks like that. |

I beg to differ. The Wings have missed on a ton of players.
It's just assumed that they always hit on the 2nd tier guys because guys like Zetterberg and Datsyuk are stars. For every Zetterberg or Datsyuk, the Wings miss on six others. |
