Best decision they could have made at this point. It stinks to burn a year on the ELC, but no need to repeat the Isles' mistakes with Niederreiter...leaving him to languish on a fourth line all year when he should be on a first line in juniors. At least Grigorenko will get his confidence back, and, well, now he has an idea of how much more it'll take to succeed in the NHL. - UIF
I bet Coho wouln't have 10 points givin the same ice time and line mates as grigorenko. Not a knock on Cody, I like him fine, but what did they expect Grigorenko to do?
Big John Scott would sniff the ice in Detroit. He is a one dimensional thug. There is no need for that kind of player in the NHL today. - JPlatt915[/img]
He didn't deserve a shot at top 2 lines, he wasn't ready and still isn't for nhl duty - dmarsden2988
He is not a 4th line player. How could you say he didn't deserve the shot. If they weren't gonna play him on a power play, or let him skate with some skilled guys, he should have never made the team. I would be okay with leaving him in the Q for this year. But after they committed to keeping him, especially now that they are in 2nd last place, they should have gave him some PP time, or some time with Vanek.

hes. not. good. enough.
he was on the powerplay early in the season and killed every one with a blind giveaway down the middle.
He should have been sent back to juniors. period. theres no other way around it, when he was here he wasnt good enough to play on the top 2 lines.
What!? I thought he wad going to play with ott and leino finally. But coach would rathet keep flynn and porter? Not agreeing with the new coach at all. On anything. Especially callups and lines combos.

But Gerbe, Kaleta, Stafford, Foligno have all been good enough to get top 6 minutes? That's my whole issue, no one on the team earned it. Let the kid play for a little bit
Who knows maybe they don't want him to be in the locker room/team if they clean house at the deadline. I just don't know how the organizations mindset has changed since his 10 game tryout with him. I mean I was never under the assumption he was going to play on the top 2 lines but I thought they kept him up to work him hard in practice with NHL guys. This organization has turned into a laughing stock day after day.

Or the centers we had on the top2 lines were playing really well & it wasn't justified to switch them
Good move , He will not loose his confidence . He will regain his confidence . He was not ready and never should have been here in the first place . Especially in this screwed up season of no training camp or exhibition games and condensed schedule . He has an idea now of how tough it is and maybe he will work hard to be ready next year. Kid will be a big wheel in Quebec for sure now ! he still gets an NHL paycheck.
Darcy will have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to stay employed now for sure.

none of those players are getting top 6 minutes anymore. they were bad and paid for it in icetime.
This is some ol' bullpoop. I mean, he has been skating with Scott much of the time. I would've liked to see him somewhere in the top 6 for at least 1 game. Way to burn 1yr of a contract on a half season. He's gonna eff around and go to the KHL rather than deal with this organization...
