Better yet, use some brains when to go all out and when to drop back.
I can't believe that the coach is telling them to always chase the puck even when they have no shot at getting possession.

- Marc D

But yet it happens game after game. And it's not just one player, but with pretty much every player. So either it is by design, and it is what the Coach is preaching. Or the Flyers are the dumbest Hockey team in the history of the League. With no Hockey sense whatsoever. Which do you think it is?

What I can't believe is that Nik Grossmann all of a sudden thinks he's Erik Karlsson and is constantly pinching in and gambling on the puck.

Bryzgalov handles the puck like it's a hand grenade. Truly one of the worst I have ever seen.
- PLindbergh31

not in my mind. he's not great, but i don't view that as a liability of his game. he's judicious in playing the puck, and rarely creates a cluster (frank) because of it. the only play that stands out negatively is when he fired the series winning goal in off Clarkson in game 5 last season.

Then we are saying that the coach is that dumb.
Because he can't be telling them just be reckless and hunt the puck even if it leads to odd man rushes more times then not.

Not looking forward to playing Columbus 4 or 5 times a season if Bob is going to maintain this level of play.

I'm leaning toward the dumbest hockey team choice, but not necessarily in league history.

No, he's not dumb. He won a Cup playing that way. He's stubborn and refuses to change for sure. But not dumb. He expects certain things to happen. He wants that defenseman to gamble on the puck. The D man is essentially becoming a forechecker. And he expects the Forwards to rotate back in a lock position. In his mind he doesn't expect it to result in an odd man rush. And in his mind it shouldn't. Because he has had success with it before.

Well it's likely one or the other. Is it the defenseman who's never been known to play that way, or the coach who has been known to push that kind of play?

One thing's for sure, all this losing is definitely dumb

I'm not. I'm leaning towards it being players doing what they're told.

Like I keep saying - they are professional paid players... some of the mistakes they're making should not be happening. It's fundamentals, and simple hustle. That's why I keep supporting the argument that it isn't a coach thing, as much is it's a player thing... You're coach can tell you to go balls out on a dump in... that doesn't mean you take bad angles after it, bunch up on the boards, lose battles every single time, bad passes, etc. etc.

I don't know if "dumb" is the right word, but "underachieving", sure.

and maybe the same players quickly losing faith in doing what isn't working, which compounds things and makes it worse.

They're being told to make bad passes, commit turnovers, not play any defense at all, lose puck battles, etc.?

Lavi's offensive system is one thing... that's no excuse for professional athletes not even doing the little things right...

How can you not? It happens game after game, with a wide range of players. It's painfully obvious. Especially if you know Laviolette's history and his system.

Not even close to what I said. They are being told to execute within the system. In the opening minutes of the last game against the Devils. Nik Grossmann aggressively pinches in. And they chip the puck past him for a two on one. Grossmann did not wake up and decide that he's Bobby Orr. Same thing happened throughout the game. And has been happening all Season.
