Bobrovsky has a .927 save %, Mason the backup in Columbus in 10 starts has an .897 save %. How do you explain the stark differences?

All of a sudden Columbus is a defensive stalwart team? I find that pretty amusing.

I'm not saying Columbus is this great defensive team, I'm saying that the there would be a big difference in the quality of shots faced if Bob were here. Especially considering how recklessly aggressive the Flyers are.

Not to take anything away from Bob, but do you really think he'd post those numbers with the Flyers?

It's either that, or politely ask the other team to play like the Penguins.

I don't disagree that he might post better numbers than Bryz. When Bob was here he was sometimes great, and sometimes not so great. But it's possible.

But, still, with the way we've been letting up chances, no matter who is in net their save pct is gonna take a hit. I just don't think it's fair to compare goalies without also considering how their teams are playing defensively in front of them.

who's the worst def team in the league? pick the worst 5....look at the goalie sv%. i haven't done this, but it prob gives a sketch of a reasonable discussion.

yeah, I hear you. Bob has definitely played well, and Mason not so much. We'll have to see if the numbers even out a bit as time goes on.

Sometimes teams just play better in front of certain goalies, too. In past years I always thought the Flyers played a bit better in front of Boosh than a lot of the other guys that have been here.

They are definitely improved. I look at their roster and quite frankly don't know how. There isn't a bunch of talent on that team.

Ton of hockey sense, no idea why he sat last year. Howson was about to royally screw him up, but they brought him back up.
