He's been playing pretty good lately. They should give him another look.

I agree that he has, I just feel it's to little to late in the organizations eyes.

And thats fine but if Stoll is in your top 6, you have more questions than answers.

You can't fix all of what ails this team in 1 move. I think that trade fixes a lot. Rids you of Stafford. Gets your goalie of the future. Allows you to choose a new captain who will hopefully be more outspoken without having to strip Pommer of the C.

He's too young to give up on, especially since he's been much better.

I like Bernier.

My problem is that puts the cap hit of the 3rd line potentially at $10.7 mil with Ott/Stoll/Leino.

Stoll was also a huge part of LA winning the cup last year. I doubt they move him.

Ennis loses 58% of his draws. I'd rather have him on the wing. He will have the same skills without the FO deficiency.
- Pierceme69

Wings take draws all the time. The notion that the most important thing a center does is take faceoffs really needs to stop.

You think? Pominville, Stafford, and Regehr seems like a pretty penny.

Ultimately we shed cap though. Especially if we traded Miller as an ancillary move. Bernier would need to get re-signed next season, so that would eat up some of the savings.

So does Hodgson.

Bernier has Arbitration rights as well.

Sure. We still trade away $13.5 million and only bring back $3.25 + whatever Bernier would get.

If we trade for Bernier, I bet Miller gets traded at the draft. No way they tie up 10 million next year in goalies. I can imagine Bernier getting 3 at 3.5

I doubt Regehr gets move. He will most likely sign but Leo,Staff,Pom Poms are the only ones that should be traded this year if they are going to rebuild. Also TJ blows...

I'd see both Bernier and Hodgson getting 3.5-4 mil per.

You're going to have to take back at least 3-4 mil in any deal where Miller is traded. It's the nature of the beast.

How many solidified #1 goalies have you seen moved at the deadline?

Miller isn't going to be moved.

I wasn't counting Miller in that number. Stafford $4 million, Pommer $5.3 million, Regher $4.2 million. You're right though, we would have to take back some salary in any Miller deal. I think we would hope to get someone decent in return so that goes without saying.

The next 4 months should be pretty interesting for the sabres. In theory, they could completely rebuild and retool this roster by the start of next season. I can't remember a time where Darcy had as many assets to move at the deadline as he does now. Vanek, miller, pommer, stafford, Leo and reghier all have some degree of value and could bring in a lot via trade. Add that to a potential top 3 pick this summer and the roster could be in great shape come the fall. Do we trust Darcy to do the job though?

Regehr isn't going to be moved IMO.

I actually think he gets resigned.
