Go to Capgeek.com

There is a lot of great information there.

- TrueGrit

It's funny, nowadays if you're going to entertain any trade or free agent type discussion you must have capgeek.com open. That site has become a vital tool in the salary cap world.

Hearing today, Melrose has a piece up linking the Hawks to Iginla (I can't find the piece). BUT, this would be consistent with tips I have had going back to last year. Hawks would very much like to add him as a playoff push piece at minimum
- John Jaeckel

what would it take to get iginla? #25, a #1 pick and smith?

Ok, so I have to defer to JJ the GM. Who'd you move and then how does Iggy fit on the spread of forwards knowing 81 & 88 are also on the RW?
- blackhawk24

Either 88 or 81 can play the left, especially 81. No problem.

Price would be high. Not sure on the cap dynamics, especially re: demotion of Olesz. Would think price would be a good young NHL player, pick, prospect.

The Flames might be a team willing to take Stalberg in hopes of re-signing him. If they give up Iginla they free up a lot of cap space.

I could see Iginla coming here and playing some super motivated hockey. It might be his best last chance at a Cup.

That's world class in women's softball.

Not anymore, My daughter could hit 57 mph on occasion and wasn't close to having the best velocity. There were girls at the Ponies and NSAs throwing 63 to 65 mph consistantly.

I think I'd rather have a 2C that can win faceoffs than Iginla .......

Something like that but a higher upside prospect than Smith, like a Johns or Clendening.

They might want Leddy over Stalberg—and who knows the price might be too high for the Hawks.

But the Hawks could have leverage. Iginla has a full NTC. Feaster probably has to move him where he would prefer to go. The list of teams narrows considerably. Does it come down to the one team Iggy feels gives him the best shot to win a Cup? Think about it.

Capgeek is currently showing the Hawks have a little over $7.5 million in cap space available. I'm also assuming that Olesz's cap hit doesn't affect anything. Capgeek has had his cap hit as part of the Hawks total all season.

Yeah, when they cross 60MPH I'm doing all I can to catch up.

I used to stand in and take some BP a few years ago when my kid still played. Batting from the left side of the plate also allowed them to frame their pitches to batters from that side too. I just remember going to a -6 or even a -8 on the bat to get the barrel around in time.

At that shorter distance, reaction time comes down to the equivalent of almost 90MPH in baseball from 60'6".

Think with Olesz in the minors, all but $900k of his cap hit is on the books.

My daughter's best pitch was a riseball that she could make break anywhere from 3 or 4 inches to 3 feet. Jenny Finch used that pitch on Barry Bonds and he couldn't hit it. When did your daughter play?

On the surface, me too. But who and could the 'Hawks acquire him?

Iggy may be more "available" per the comments JJ has above.

IMO, there is enough talent in the pipeline to part with a Clendening or a Johns....however...if the Hawks are not interested in dealing with Leddy's agent, is Leddy the odd man moved out for Iginla? Do the Hawks feel comfortable with Montador being called back up or is another move needed if Leddy is part of the deal?

Your thoughts JJ?

I saw Finch pitch. My daughter loved her a few years ago. She saw the Bandits play. And at that time I thought my kid was going to go heavy into softball. That was 2008. Times a changed. my kid lost interest. She played only through park district and into HS a couple years. Too bad cuz the kid could hit pretty well and was solid in all 3 OF positions and middle IF.

It's all good though: She and I will play catch at the park or in the street sometimes; baseball, 11" or 12" softball. She has a better (and more accurate) arm than boys her age on the block. Still proud of the fact she got in there and took that heat given she played as young as 8 years old.

From what I just did in research Olesz will count against the cap. Its his salary - (league min +375K) if in the minors. So his cap hit would be 3.125 million - (525k + 375k) = 2.225 million against the cap (we save 900k with him in the minors).

That is a rumor. There was, I was told, some significant bad taste left from the Suter dealings—but I have never been able to verify it was with the agent. That said, I did hear that. Considering their ages and career arcs, i would think Leddy for Iginla straight up would be absolutely as high as the Hawks would go. And maybe not that high. And if I were Feaster, I would jump on that.

If they move Leddy they may be able to pick up an expiring contract on a similar type player like Gonchar. If of course the numbers work.

The Hawks need faceoff help, not necessarily a "2C".

thanks for the insight...do you see the hawks dangling Stalberg to MTL for a center?

Or Visnovsky, but the doillars get really screwy unless something else is worked out to provide cap relief. Hawks could ship a decent pick and a contract (or two) to the Isle for Visnovsky.

All speculation. Mostly unlikely.

Are you hearing the hawks may trade Leddy for a rental??? I don't see Bowman doing this. He is very attached to "his" players and Leddy was probably his best players acquisition, via trade, of his career with the Blackhawks.

I see Bowman doing what he normally does, trade picks for players, or players we wont be able to resign for players (only if it is a good deal for the Blackhawks).

Maybe, since we have some minor league depth, he trades some of the prospects he doesn't see helping us in the future for a rental, but I think Leddy is his love child.

I'd hate to see Leddy go for Jarome, unless the Hawks KNOW they can't resign him. A rental player for a young puck moving D-man. Robbing Peter to pay Paul in my opinion.
