The books hit me harder than the films. The films are like an almost-walk in Middle Earth. Peter Jackson couldn't be bothered to end LOTR properly with the scouring of the Shire but could stretch the Hobbit out to three movies? Feh. (not a typo)

Agreed on the movies. No "Sharkey" was kinda lame and even lamer was omitting Old Tom Bombadil...his coat is blue and his boots are yellow!

So you wouldn't trade G for Weber, renna, a 1st and cap relief?
- jstross

Really?

That is about as damn silly as saying would you trade Giroux for Crosby, Stamkos or Malkin straight up.

Yes, if you want to find some 100% illogical fantasy world trade then sure, I would take what you listed. Since you are not going to find that though..

@TSN Bob McKenzie

Based on my conversations with NHL clubs, consensus top 3 college free agents are: DeKeyser, D, WMU; Sustr, D, UNO; Laganiere, RW, Yale.

Just a little Leight night reading for my Buzzards here...especially anyone who thinks the Flyers are really missing the presenc eof one Matthew Carle...here's what the current sentiment is on Matt Carle in Tampa. This was from the Tampa faithful on HF boards yesterday, (even before tonight's craptastic 0-2 loss at home to the Icelanders).

Enjoy!

"How many of you guys can stand to watch this guy play here for 6 more years? He's been down right atrocious with and without the puck this year.

If we could move him for a bag of pucks I'd take the deal and run, since we cant, is there any sort of deal that could take him off our hands? Does he have a NTC/NMC?

Anyway we could get J-bow for Carle without adding to much?"

--------------

Just like most of our players he's been struggling lately. At the beginning of the season after the first couple of games I thought he wasn't flashy but he gets the job done. His shot is soft as **** though.

----------------

Carle is frustrating. He's REALLY frustrating at $5.5m, and even moreso when he's paired with Eric "who put concrete in my skates?" Brewer. The turnovers are constant, and a lot of his issues seem like they are easily fixed by not playing lazy.

As far as NTC/NMC, I don't know of any, and couldn't find it in the articles when he was signed as a FA from philly. Edit: Good find LightningStikes. I'm wrong.

Would a move to Ottawa make sense b/c of the Karlsson injury? Do they have cap space/the ability to shift things around for a guy like him? I'm not sure moving him is the answer, but the guy has to do something different, and soon. Also, he could stand to take shooting lessons from Salo.

--------------------

With that contract we are most likely stuck with him for at least 4 more years. The sad thing is even with how bad he's been he's still our third best defenseman, that's how bad our D has been.

---------------------

Why hasn't any of the coaches or trainers have him do nothing but wrist workouts? Between the flaccid shot and limp wristed giveaways on trying to receive a pass, someone has to say something.

------------------

Hedman, Salo, Aulie and Gudas (I know it's a small sample size, but I liked what I saw) have all been better than him. I would argue that Brewer and Lee have been slightly better at times too. They at least play the body sometimes and don't have the muscle structure of wet linguine. I would personally say that Carle has been our WORST defenseman this year.

---------------

Carle has been pretty much the player I expected him to be, which is unfortunate given his ridiculous contract.

---------------

I wrote this when we signed him"

Quote:
"I never liked Carle but I hope he will prove me wrong, just every time I've seen him play he makes some stupid mistake! "

Sadly that statement still stands

-----------------

This (Jagr's wrist strengthening training) needs to be implemented more. Especially with Carle, most of his turnovers and mistakes come from his noodle wrists. That shot of his looks beer league.

Yeah I get that aspect. I've read the hobbit oh 6,7,8 times and LOTR a good 5 or so...I can't seem to conquer the Silmarils but I am otherwise a Tolkien geek.

So then G is NOT untradable. My point is everyone is tradable for the right price. Just ask the Vikings and Dallas cowboys.

I don't think I said he was untradeable but rather that I don't think they should trade Giroux, Pitbull or Voracek.

Homer should get credit for not resigning Carle. Carle at 3 mil is a nice player. People want to complain about not being able to resign Carle to a cap friendly deal Bc we extended grossman. But do we know for a fact that Carle camp and holmer didn't have negotiations and Carle made it known he wanted a high dollar figure?

I watched a period of a Tampa game a few weeks ago and Carle skated, no glided back to a puck, immediately turned it over Bc the guy was on him and it ended up in the back of the net

Give holmer credit for that non move

Carle for 5/$25 would've handicapped the club given the other deals. He has value just not that, IMO.

They miss his mobility and puck moving, but from a financial aspect Holmer was dead right not to sign him. $5.5 mil is too much. I forget the d-man who was signed somewhere a bit before Carle, but that deal screwed Philly in that it really raised the asking price from the Carle camp.

Hey, does anyone know how the lottery is going to work? Are they reseeding all teams or just the first pick?

By the way, a great fantasy writer is David Eddings. The Mallorean / Belgariad and Elenium and the Tamuli are four of my fav series, after Tolkien and Thrones. And props to anyone who made it through the Simarillion. I only made it through half twice (does that count as the whole)

Sadly, no

All those damn elves and dwarves start sounding the same after awhile. I read LOTR and the cliff notes at the same time. Picked up so much I was missing. Definitely recommend that.

Wes "Shortie" Welker...the Danny Briere of the NFL. Seriously, how has dude survived this long in the league when he is probably smaller than a lot of the teenage kids in the stands.

Then I'm afraid that only counts as 2 halves.

I would read it but I have a rule, if it isn't work related or if it doesn't have scantily clad women or sports references I aint reedin iT.

Elves and dwarfs just aren't going to cut it, I have a very short attention span.
