No, I meant if Dan takes the buy out and expects to make even more money by accepting an interested team's offer of a two year, 6.7 mil contract (the example given). That plus the B/O $ nets him more than he's making now.

It only works for him if a team interested in paying him that kind of money is close enough where he can easily reach out to his kids. Otherwise, he has a hard decision to make.

I say give him a list (if there is one) of interested teams and see if he's be willing to waive before he's shown the door.

Misunderstood, my bad.

I agree with him providing a list of interested teams and saying pick one.

The draft is always a crapshoot, hell they Flyers didn't grab Bobby Clarke till the 2nd round, Montreal passed on him 3 times!!! Heck they were dominant in the late 70s, they may have won 10 in a row if you add Clarke to that team.

He was too small, and more importantly, he had diabetes.

Nobody wanted him.

Guy had "bust" written all over him.

He could take a discount to stay closer to home. Maybe play for New Jersey or for the Islanders.

Even if only got two years, $4 million, he would still be making millions more overall than he is due to receive on his current deal.

What we got Hatcher and Rathje back? Our bigger D men (Coburn/Grossman, Schenn, Mez) aren't speed demons, but have more than adeqaute mobility/skating for their size imo.

So Holmgren backs the coach. Players have to play better.

Maybe Murray has a lake house in NY or something.

I've never said otherwise. Actually heading into the season, I said the Flyers defensive group wasn't as bad as many feared.

The fact that they're playing a system that exposes the team's weaknesses so readily is an issue.

- Jsaquella

But what really has changed since last season's 103 point campaign that has made the roster so much less compatible with Lavy's style? The abnsence of Jagr and Matt Carle? I don't think so. I think it's a snowball effect form a lot of different factors...the early injuries, questionable depth players on D, young player setbacks/growing pains, aging Timonen, fading Briere, reversion of Talbot, shaky goalie confidence. The lack of good (team) defensive fundamentals is probably the most troublesome to me...and I guess that does fall laregly on Lavy.

Why would we want to see vids of Jsaq recording vids on his tv? I'd rather the video contained what was actually on the TV itself.

That five day break after the Tampa game would be a great time for a new coach to come in.

NICK COUSINS

If anyone is into prospects, let me know what you think of Cousins….I saw an interesting analysis of him on Twitter via NHL YoungGunsDaily (@YoungGunsDaily). They compared Cousins to Darcy Tucker…Is that fair? I thought at first it was being unfair to Cousins' upside but at the same time, Tucker has had good numbers throughout his career and was very useful. Thoughts?
Either way, he is absolutely killing it this year in the OHL.

Dougie Hamilton would have been a good pick but you guys have to realize Flyers had just traded away two top centers and you had Chris Pronger, Carle, Timmo, Mez and Coburn....Im sure if the Flyers were to be in the same position today knowing Pronger?Carle was gone they would take Hamilton.
- flyerfan28

No, they had G and Schenn and they draft well at center. Pronger had his toughest season injury-wise kimmo fading, coby/carle both needing new deals...so yes, d was a need. Couts not a bad pick at all...a lot of us wanted dougie including me.

That's a pretty fair comparison, actually. Cousins has a lot of work to do on his defensive game and skating, in the games I have seen him in. But he is a chippy guy that stirs the pot, for sure

I really like that in a player...especially if he has offensive upside, it poses a huge problem for opposing players. I totally agree with you.
When you saw him play, did he look like he got his goals from talent or more from hard-work?

I've only seen him score 2 goals. One was luck, rebound right to him and the other was hard work

Ya he doesn't strike me as a guy that will produce massive pts, but as a 3rd liner with 15-20 goals he would be perfect.

When a guy who is a projected #1 falls to #8, it's hard not to take him. Same reason Edmonton drafted Yakupov over Murray (turned out good so far due to Murray's injury). I think both players will turn out to be good players in their own way. Hamilton's immensely talented, but he also has the lowest +/- of any Bruins defenseman ona pretty stacked Bruins team (for whatever that's worth). Also, while I haven't seen a ton of him in the NHL, I tried to pay very close attention to him at the WJC this winter. I say tried, because he was never involved in the play. It's a small sample, but from what I saw of him in a winner-take-all tournament, he was rendered a non-factor after being one of the guys counted on. /end rant
