I think everyone knows it would start with Couturier, and wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers would do that. Flyers C1 and C2 are already occupied, and C3 won't be that hard to fill. - The_Universe
Wouldn't be suprised if the flyers would do that? When Couturier's name came up in a deal for Weber the answer was no when it came up for bobby ryan the answer was no. So now they will trade him for Buf and you wouldn't be suprised? |

LOL! I'm just trying to level the playing field... On my first proposal, something to build off of or tweak, the Jets fans went NUTS haha.
I'd want more back ideally for Read seeing as how he is a legit sniper when healthy. Buff is worth a lot, but the Jets fans seem to think he's of the Crosby or Stamkos value, where anything short of a boat-load isn't enough. - Flyers_V88
OK then.
How about Sarich, Iginla and JBo for Cout, Read, Timonen (salary), Meszaros (salary) and a 1st?

Hmmm, interesting. VERY interesting...
I'd say it would all be contingent if Iggy would re-sign or not. Otherwise, it's not a terrible trade from an economic point-of-view.
I'd maybe take the 1st out, or reduce it to a higher pick. |

You could have made a case for a "dilemma" 2 or 3 years ago - I remember writing a blog with that precise title. But right now, if you don't think moving Iginla is in the best interests of both the team and the player, you're an idiot. End of discussion.
There is simply no rational case that can be made anymore for rebuilding NOT being the best, and quite possibly only, option for the Flames anymore.
It may surprise a lot of people, but if they're within striking distance of the playoffs at the deadline I could easily see nobody being traded. But if they maintain their current pace and still don't move anyone, management and ownership have some serious explaining to do. |

Well- I said this to a Pens post too- any team he waives for, I see him re-signing there. I don't see him coming back to Calgary if he leaves.
To keep the 1st, I am willing to throw out Timonen and add Briere. |

Yup. If I were Iggy, I'd push for a move to a contender and just come back in the offseason. Worst case scenario is a Mats Sundin situation...
Could you imagine if he had agreed to go as a rental, while still playing like he could? The Leafs would have Burrows AND Kessler right now lol. |

I know a lot of people in Philly want to see Briere gone, or bought-out. He just can't play the wing and be effective, and like the usual problem the past 6 years or so in Philly, too many centers. |

Have you watched the JETS play with and without Buff? Did you see his OT winner in FLA a few days ago and the impact he has last night against TOR?? Seriously, why in the world would we give him up for a guy we could of drafted if we really wanted him that badly??? Buff's value to the JETS is like Giroux to the Flyers....would you trade him for a Scheifele & a pick, I doubt it!! I cannot see the JETS trading him at this point and I wouldn't be looking for a young guy, I would say straight up for Giroux... |

This is all hypothetical... And as much as you'd want to believe, there is no way you can say he's going nowhere. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't? We're going to have to wait and see. Being a Jets fan, I can see you'd obviously want to keep him, and in all probability, he won't go anywhere because Winnepeg will undoubtedly ask for the moon. But anything is possible.
I'm curious though, what would you want if you were the GM, what would your trade look like? Just curious. - Flyers_V88
If I'm GM and philly comes asking for Buff, I'm asking for Claude Giroux.. you want a dynamic D-man, we need a dynamic center. |

I don't see the Tkachuk thing with Iggy myself. He really does strike me as a guy who is competitive enough to really relish a shot at the Cup - if its just for one playoff run it would be his only shot. Remember, Ray Bourque didnt win the Cup until the year AFTER his trade (although to be fair he was already under contract). Then again there are also serious personal factors to consider. |

While I can obivously see the impact Buff has to the organization, and he is a very valuable asset, you'd have to be joking for G. Flyers need D help in some areas, but not that bad. And I don't even know how many people, outside of Jets fans, would agree that they're even comparable in terms of value... Sorry, no offense meant by that, but take a poll around and see... |

And people laughed at my initial proposal haha.
Another thing too, and I don't mean to burst any bubbles here, but the Flyers as an organization are much closer to a Cup than Winnipeg. Not this year obviously, but given the pedigree of the talent on this team, the Jets are not even close. |

doesn't matter if you think he is or isn't.. the question was asked if you were the Jets GM who would you ask for?
Couts isn't in Buff's class if that's the case for making or not making a trade. |

See my suggestion. He is considering JBo, Iggy and Sarich for Cout, Read, Meszaros, Briere or Timonen (both buyout candidates) and a 1st.

I don't think Winnipeg trades Buff. But, if they do, a top lottery pick and a prospect from a team like Edmonon would be a pretty good starting offer. |

That would be a terrific trade for the Flames but it seems a bit much to give up for Philly. |

This is vastly overvaluing Buff. |
