As a Flames fan I'm on the whatever Iggy wants is fine by me. He's given us alot over his time here and if he wants to stay then that's fine. He's earned it. I'm pretty sure that winning a cup with any other team would be a little bitter sweet for him. |

what would Flyers fans think of:
To CGY: Sean Couturier
To PHI: Mark Giordano, Mikael Backlund, 3rd in '13
Backlund would fit in nicely as a 3rd line C for the Flyers (a role Couturier is over-qualified for) and Giordano would be an instant (and long-term) boost to the Flyers back-end. Backlund drives the play for the Flames (one of the few players on our team who can), and he'd be a good 2A/3rd line center going forward. - comixzone
Not bad, but Backlund struggles to stay on the ice, and that is a major factor. |

Why would Winnipeg do that? That is utterly ridiculous. - Oneonta Penguin
Like I said... Burmistrov has vritually no value to Winnepeg right now, as he's been a scratch more often than not lately, and Winnepeg's problems aren't on D. Flyers would also be giving THEIR 1st round. I think this is a faily legit offer to start with... |

EK - wanna explain how Buff helps the Leafs D?
What he brings to the table isn't what they're missing... - Big_Lightnin
The Leafs could certainly use another top flight D man... I like what Buff brings, especially on the PP. |

I would rather him traded but he is my favourite player in the NHL so it would not be all bad if he stayed. The one thing is that he needs to make up his mind soon. He either re-signs in the next week or 2 , or is traded. Also if he re-signs it has to be for less than $5 million a year if he wants a 4 year deal. |

Trade Byfulgilen to Toronto put him on the line with Kessel and he will become a 100 Goal scorer a year. |

If no one wants to be the "bad guy" then whatever happens it cannot be Iginla leaving as a free agent in the summer with NOTHING back for the Flames.
my opinion (for what its worth): Kipper, Giordano, Iginla, Tanguay need to go, not because they are bad players, or people. Because they will bring value back. I'm guessing these guy would turn into 2 first round picks, 2nd round pick and 2 to 3 prospects. Use the supplementary first round pick where ever the number they are and move up in the draft as high as possible on top of your own top 5 pick. Next year adding 2 good kids from the draft, maybe over pay for a couple free agents with the cap space saved from moving players out.
I would keep Bouwmeester and try and resign him in July 4.5x4 years...
Just my opinion> |

Another source I have talked to said Jay Feaster is paying close attention to public opinion on this one. - Eklund
Yes, because GM's are going to make decisions in the best interest of their team based on what the fans think |

I assume it will take a King's ransom to scoop him up though. |

I still think this is nothing more than Eklund being a Flyers homer and he puts things out there for the sake of doing so. It's not rocket science that Philly needs a puck moving defenseman, which Buff is. If Winnipeg deals him and it shouldn't, the return starts with Couterier, not Laughton or Cousins. - Oneonta Penguin
Very true. AND if it starts with couterier than the jets should entertain the idea. Because coutiour is the guy the jets should have drafter anyway! not Scheiffle.
But anyway. it would have to be an overpayment because buff means so much to the jets in more ways than on the ice. fans go ape poop over him |

Fair, and I were Winnepeg, I'd probably ask for that. If I'm the Flyers, I come up with a deal that looks like this:
Byfuglien, Burmistrov, 2nd, and 3rd to Philadelphia
To Winnepeg: Couts and our 1st - Flyers_V88
Yeh, as a Jets fan, I'd have to say no. People keep forgetting that Burmistrov is still only 21 years old, and still has a ton of upside. Up until the last couple of weeks, he was probably one of our most consistent forwards. That trade is slanted WAY towards Philly...
The argument is moot, regardless, Buff isn't going anywhere. I'm sure 29 teams are "interested" in Crosby, too. But he ain't going anywhere...
And no, I'm not comparing Byfuglien to Crosby... |

Kings and Sabres are in trade talks. A league source says LA will trade with Buffalo. We shall see.
hmmm. . .Is this guy reliable? |

This is all hypothetical... And as much as you'd want to believe, there is no way you can say he's going nowhere. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't? We're going to have to wait and see. Being a Jets fan, I can see you'd obviously want to keep him, and in all probability, he won't go anywhere because Winnepeg will undoubtedly ask for the moon. But anything is possible.
I'm curious though, what would you want if you were the GM, what would your trade look like? Just curious. |

As much as I would love to see Buff on the Flyers' D line for an exchange including Couturier, it's not going to happen.. Let's be realistic here. |

Which won't happen. They will wait until Weber is eligable to be traded again before shipping Couturier out. If they wouldn't move him for Weber in the summer they certainly aren't going to move him for Buff with the only difference being 20 some games played since then. Wait to see where the draft pick is, who is available at that spot, would Nashville reconsider the trade? These are all things to evaluate before grabbing a D man to grab a D man. - hereticpride
I think if they had the option to do that again, they would have traded coots. Homer called Poile's bluff and lost. It happens, now both teams suck. |

If Iggy can go off to PIT, BOS or LAK and help the Flames garner another 1st and a prospect? Absolutely.
If he can then come back in the summer? What a wonderful way for Iginla to show his true commitment to winning, both as an individual and as a Calgary Flame.
Even if he never comes back - the city of Calgary would be ecstatic for Iggy to a win cup. The moment he gets dealt, I'll order the new Iggy jersey for whatever team he ends up on. - comixzone
Completely and totally agree. Send him to PIT let him make a legitimate shot at the cup, then bring him back in the offseason to become a mentor to the youth and assets that his trade will bring in.
Please don't let it be a repeat of Mats Sundin in Toronto. |
