So, on to future things; if we managed to draft McKinnon and Barkov (based on my dream proposal earlier), and we move Bill Arnold to the RW we could have future lines looking like:

Baertschi- Barkov- McKinnon
Gaudreau- Jankowski- Arnold

Both smaller B and G would have larger centers and RW. That could be 2 large lines with speed, skill and physicality.
aaahhhhhh, to dream of the future.............

What about Backlund?!?! I do agree with your draft strategy, I posted a similar one yesterday and it actually seems attainable!!

Not sure how far ahead your lines above are, but in 9 years Jankowski will be the best player in the league, so I would suggest he's our #1 C

fair enough, and i agree, they have spent to the the cap. i was more refering to the unending excuse as to why they shouldnt trade kipper or iggy.. one of the worst is, cause it would affect ticket sales... gretzky was traded, throton was traded. people are traded. one player cant be bigger than the good of the team. hinesight is 20/20 but imagine the return for iggy 2-3 years ago. (frank)kk the flames would be way better off now.

Would they be though? It depends who they would have got, who they would have drafted etc. There aren't to many players out there like an Iginla, he's been with the team for 18 years, captain for as long as I can remember, always leads the team in scoring, always gets 30 goals. IMO you don't trade a guy like this until you are 100% sure it's not gonna work, and this is year we found this out.

You also fail to mention Iggy himself. At the end of the day it's his decision. He has a young family, this is his home, and he will always be a Flame no matter what happens. 2 or 3 years ago he wouldn't go anywhere, he has always wanted to be here, and will always want to win here.

It's not so easy bro.

- The-O-G

i agre, but no matter how many times hes scoring his 30 goals or getting his noteriety higher and higher, the flames are still losing. at the end of the day, if the team was succedding you keep him no question. but to ride a goalie and hope for an 8th place playoff birth for a "chance" is (frank)ing bad managemnt.

tambs clearly doesnt have the balls for this as he believes draft picks alone are the only way to build a winner. AND its too much of a gamble in case the cross province rivals hit the jackpot with their pick.

Ya but I mean they have never been that far off until this year. No reason to believe they couldn't have had an Anaheim type turn around this year.

Look, i'm not saying I have agreed with their strategy thus far, but I can see the reasons they have made the decisions they have in the past. It's not that far-fetched. Remember hindsight is 20-20

totally, but its thats we could have an l.a type playoff or a anaheim type year. no the flames cant. they just dont have the right make up or personel. as far as them not being bad up until this year, thats not true.. they have been bad for the last 3 easy... i would love to have the flames in the same breath as chi, van or bos pitts, nyr. but they are far off from that. enough being a mediocre team. trade the assets and become a hard team to play against again.

btw anaheim has about 15 players the flames dont that make anaheim that much better...

no i wont, like i said b4 its a mater of opinion. ive never like glenx and i think hes lazy. ill agree that his 2.5 is a great deal for potential 30 goals. still i wouldnt want him on my team, and hes not a legit 1st or 2nd on most teams. again imo. the fact he is on calgary illustrates the lack of quality on the team.

i was pointing out at the time that glenx's value is overated, again imo.

- munky123

Your right, he isn't a legit 1st or 2nd liner. He does his best, again JMO, when he is on the 3rd line. That's why I said "he beats the hell out of other 3rd liners." 30 goal production from the 3rd line is awesome. If you don't want that on your team then YOU are doing YOUR team a diservice. You don't have to like him. The added bonus is that he can move up or down your line up. Again, for the low low cost of only $2.5mil/per

ill give you that. but with the 3 rd line paring he might not be able to attain 30 goals. that being said our 3rd is galchenyuk, eller and rotation between bourque and prust. he could maybe get 30 with eller centering...

also i forgot to say id take prust at his money over glenx anyday... prust is 100 times more influencial or an impact in a game than glenx on most nights.

lastly how come you sluffed at my preposlas.. solid returns for calagry...

I think he has spent a lot of time on Drouin's wing. He's a right shot and plays with grit. I just thought having he AND Barkov protecting Baertschi would create a balanced line.

i dunno, they have always had a solid group. just poor direction. i dont base my opionins solely on the group of players only. i think alot of teams are suffering because of poor coaching to be honest. cest l'inverse pour calagry tho
