On a completely unrelated subject:
Danny Briere has two years left after this year.
$6.5 million a year in cap hit.
$5 million total left in actual payments. Yup, $5 million over two years.
If I was running Ek's trading roomer chart, I'd put it at:
Columbus: 45%
Florida: 35%
Pheonix: 30%
Yeah, Ek isn't very good at math. - Atomic Wedgie
According to the chart the Leafs have a 40% chance to landing Brad Boyes. Ouch!

I was loving Liles like two cold pints and a plate of nachos before his concussion.
We need that guy back. - Atomic Wedgie
Me too, sharp guy on the ice - Toronto could use some intelligence back there...he needs to try to be a bit physical tonight to stay up - and of course not mess up - back to pre boo boo. Tough team to come back against though...Neal says hello. |

We need to focus on getting Stastny, someone that could be a number one center for us, and someone who should be available given COL situation.
TOR
Stastny
COL
Bozak
Gunnarson
2nd
It may need to be massaged a bit, but I think something in this ball park gets it done. Doing this trade makes our team significantly better. |

how many 1st are they giving us to off-set the massive overpayment by the LEafs? - Big_Lightnin
How is it an overpayment? We get five years of leadership and morale from Clowe along with his finishing checks and goal scoring abilities. Couture is a 1B Center and Kadri can easily take 2nd line C so it figures out our Center problems for years to come. We also get rid of Kessel and all the memories that come with him. Colborne IMO will be a solid 3rd line C, maybe 2b on a lower team.
You have to overpay to get what you want and this trade fills all voids. Gunnarsson is tradeable due to the amount of defensive depth we have right now and 3 years into the future it will be even more crowded. Might as well make a trade while these guys have value. |

Edmonton could use a guy like that. And all it would cost them is their 1st round draft pick this year two rolls of tape. |

Wow, that sure does sound like a terrible way to develop a player with great raw skills, but in need of a little bit of polishing (especially on his defensive aspects).

So the thinking to adding Kessel in the trade and get totally fleeced by it is for that reason? |

The mindset of the fans is funny: three points out of a playoff spot, and they are already insisting it is over.
For six years, Leafs fans have been confident when only three points out of a playoff spot. - Atomic Wedgie
its not so much due to their current standings though A&W, its moreso their lack of consistency and their level of play this year. That team should be dominating most games and they are letting in 4-5-6-7 goals per game and not playing well together. Call it bad goaltending, bad defensive systems, Luke Schenn, or whatever you want...but something needs to change cause they dont look like a strong contending team out there. Just my opinion. |

who the (frank) did that happen? - Big_Lightnin
The same guy who thought that it would be a great idea to have the Penguins play in Toronto twice in six days, have Toronto not play on Saturday, March 2nd, and schedule a Toronto/Montreal game for a Wednesday night.
True story: before the NHL started doing schedules with computers, it was done by one guy at the office in Montreal. He did it with a giant wall and magnets - had the schedule on the wall, and then just started placing the magnets (with the names of teams) on the wall.
And it worked well. |

Toronto/Montreal on a Wednesday night was TSN (CTV's) doing... and they paid to get it done.
Oh and that was a typo meant to say "how" got all the letters right at least |

Absolutely he is. I always saw him at the end of the bench talking to the goalies prior to every shoot out, calming them down, pumping them up. He is a good guy, but the injury and buy out issue is real, and he sucks a little. BUT HE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THE OILERS, because they suck a lot. Islanders could use him too. |
