there is always one or two willing.
always.
logic goes out the window on deadline day for a lot of GMs - Dozzer
Yeah but depends what team. Some teams can evidently give up 1st Rounders because the team is already stacked enough and prospects that probably wont be used. Us on the other hand, would be kind of sad to keep on giving up first rounders, since we practically hand them out for free. especially when we dont know 100 percent that he will resign |

playoff revenue will be a huge factor for some teams this year as well
with all the lost income from the lockout there might just be a couple owners instructing GMs to make a move that gives the best chance for a deep playoff push
its gonna be an odd deadline this year i think.. there will be a ton of build up and it will end up flat.. thats my guess. |

Well for the leafs it does not really matter, the tickets will all sell in the first 30 seconds with or without an elite forward or trade like perry but i get the whole push them farther in playoffs to sell more, but arguably we do not have that team to go all the way yet. We dont compare to teams like boston, penguins, chicago yet. |

There isn`t a push on them, pressure yes but no push when it comes to putting next year in jeopardy. Nonis is in a unique situation with the leafs right now and he`s going to play his cards very carefully. |

it will be an interesting deadline for sure...
personally, i'd be interested in trading for clowe if he becomes available. seems a bit more realistic |

SJ is not shopping him, listening to offers, but not shopping him since they are in a spot for playoffs.
I think leafs best option is to acquire a centerman, Stastny makes the most logical sense that i think could be made available if the avs are out of a playoff spot or pretty far off. I say him because there is no one else that i think could be made available or can be obtained for a decent price. Berglund? Berglund is doing amazing with the blues, hes not going anywhere along with stewart at the moment.
Unless we wait for guys like thorton, pavelski, or bergeron who i think will be resigned who are available not this summer but the next.
Edit: Arguably out of those 3, forgot marleau, i believe thorton could resign with the sharks or pursue somewhere else. If SJ had to keep one, they keep thorton. And Marleau at the age of 32 turning 33 does not really entice me when stastny is 27... Iunno what do you think? |

Or leafs wait it out for a centerman. 2014 UFA summer:
Bergeron
Malkin
Datsyuk
Marleau
Pavelski
Stastny
Thorton
Sedin
2014 summer is going to have alot of free agents, really good free agents, alot of Depth beyond centers |

The only ones I see being available would be statsny and maybe Pavelski (if he's asking too much for the sharks)... I'd happily take either

oh i know it makes very little sense for SJ to move clowe.. still.. it would be nice
as for the rest there is one thing nonis is going to have to consider when assuing any kind of large contract. kadri's price tag moving forward. limited cap next year.. so bringing in someone like stastny while grabo is making 5.5 and kadri likely to get around 3.5 (just a hunch) thats basically 1/4 of the cap being chewed up by 3 centres.

It's the circle of life! Now that Getzlaf has re-signed, they need to bring in new names... |

If we ever acquire a big contract centerman like a stastny, or a ribeiro, or a thorton or marleau, grabo will obviously have to be moved, sliding kadri to 2nd line center duties |

From that list, Malkin gets resigned, Datsyuk gets resigned, pavelski gets resigned, Sedins probably get resigned because their team sucks too much, San jose can blow up the team and marleau or thorton can both go or one of them gets resigned(more so thorton will be resigned), marleau could be a free agent, cant see bergeron leaving one of the greatest centers, ribeiro is a free agent, stastny could be a free agent unless we trade for him now , and yeah |

Yup... the downside with there being no cap is that everybody else has the same rules to play by |

I suppose we'll lose to the Pens and then the suicide watch will begin. All teams go into a funk during a season. The trick is not doing it down the stretch or in the playoffs.......Habs time is coming......first round sounds about right! |
