yeah phaneuf is lazy, thats not happening if there is a odd man rush thats why he needs someone to bail him out
Its like Suter and Weber, alot of credit goes to suter for bailing him out no? - Mapleleafs_91
not enough.
both complimented, but ya. Put a Suter with Phaneuf, people would (frank)ing love both of them.

been trying to make the point for awhile that gardiner and/or liles are not going to do a very good job for the role kostka fills - Dozzer
It's not Kostka that goes down. It's Holzer.
And as for Gardiner and Carlyle.....
Last year in the final 18 gp under Carlyle, Gardiner averaged 22-24 minutes of ice time, had 11 points and was a -4. If Carlyle didn't like him, he wouldn't have played him so much. |

dunno if you get it though...
It's so when they retrieve a puck in their corner, they are on forehand to play it up the boards rather than backhand.
if Left Shot is playing RD, when he gets puck in corner he's on his backhand to clear it up ice = turnovers.
-not being a Richard here - lot's of people here have no idea why Carlyle is so set on it so needs ot be said. Leafs are turnover whores. Can't make enough of them!!
this is an easy way to eliminate some. |

he plays the body really well.. he also is good at forcing people to the outside.
rarely does he allow anyone to cut into the middle.. usually forces guys to cycle around the back of the net.

well now you're 0 for 4.

Gardiner did play against a higher quality of competition last year. Not great quality though. |

I'll take ur word for it ..... He looks bad every night 2 me ..... Makes bad choices with the puck.... Takes to long to make a choice..... Can't hold the puck in the offensive zone (drives me crazy) ... Misses the net more then dion and I've seen him get beat pretty bad |

for most of the year he was 2nd pairing. He didn't play much with Phaneuf 5 on 5. |

not that buy into these discussions, but I would try to include one of our other D prospects, Finn, Percy etc... and a pick (not 1st) instead of Gardiner
but thats me - senstroll
Percy imo is a better all round defenceman than Gardiner, he has offence but is great defensively as well. I think a lot of people don't watch him play, shame, he is a good one. |

No i understand perfectly what you are saying, thats why Phaneuf belongs on the LD. For that reason you stated, but having one line with two LD is not a bad thing when we have better defenders to play |

well then TSN has it wrong I guess.
although... taking a quick look, last nights doesn't look right. 4 G on 28 shots is not .916... it's .875.
maybe a glitch cause he didn't play whole game. Rest are right though.

He doesn't mean game by game numbers, he means that his Spct is going down for the season game by game. |

And what role is that? Hard to believe that this 27 year old, undrafted D man, is in his third organization in 3 years.
Mind you it would have been pretty tough to crack the Buffalo and Florida defense lineups. |
