We should resign Bozak for just under 4 million, slot him into the 2nd line center position, and hopefully the emergence of Nazem Kadri continues. Who knows, maybe he'll be our answer to a #1 centerman as he continues to develop. Trade Grabovski and Kulemin, Grabovski is overpaid, and Bozak can do just the same, maybe even better. Grabo would most likely fetch more in a trade as well. - ThePresident
I dont see Grabo fetching much in a trade with the contract he has. I personally think Bozak would get more then Grabo. If they sign Bozak just under 4 though, what does Kadri get?

I think I'd be passing on Bozak at anything over $3M, at the very very most $3.5M. |

3.25 for Kadri seems about right... Grabovski would for sure fetch more then Bozak, Bozak would probably acquire us a 2nd rounder at best while I believe Grabovski could probably grab us a late 1st rounder. That being said, I just don't see where Grabo fits into this team anymore, same goes for Kulemin. Hell, I'd even trade Grabovski for Ribeiro straight up at the deadline. Short term help for us, someone who can slot in between Kessel and Lupul or JVR, great playmaker. Short term fix as Kadri continues to develop. |

Under the agreement, Eakins can effectively entertain an NHL coaching post after the first year. Worked out in principle over the past few months with Marlies GM/Leafs assistant Dave Nonis, the deal includes flexibility for Eakins to take an NHL job beginning in the 2013-14 season

yup.
2 yrs, $3M per max. that's double his money.
He's a #1C by default.
Grabo was in a strong bargaining position and Leafs couldn't afford to lose him. Bozak, not so much |

Agreed. He's not a top line guy he just seems the best option for now. |

I don't really like the numbers myself, but realistically with the contracts that players relatable to him get, its not that far fetched....especially when you have Grabovski making 5.5 million |

Yeah but just under 4 million, maybe 3.75 is more than fair for a 2nd line centerman capable of 40-50 points and able to play #1 if injuries occur. |

overcompensating now I see
be Eakins loved that picture
I could see him taking another full year to see where the LEafs are under Carlyle... but if things look good, he'd be gone the year after.
that said, can never fault a guy for taking an NHL job. |

if he's not playing with Kessel and not getting #1 PP time, he's not capable of 40-50 points.

Grabo was in a far better negotiating position than Bozak though. Leafs had NOBODY beyound Bozak and Grabo last summer, And Grabo would easily have gotten $5.5 or more on open market.
Bozak has less leverage. he might get more on open market, but he's in a good situation and he knows it.
Hell he would probably take 4 yrs @ $2.75 for the security. Mind you, if some fool GM wants to give him 2 yrs, $4M as UFA, that's better for him, he can always go cheaper on his next deal if it doesn't work out. |

The Grabbo mistake has been done.
Bozak at $3.75 million would just be adding another mistake. |

Why keep the worse player to save a bit of money?
trade both, but if you're keeping 1, keep Grabo.
trading Grabo and overpaying Bozak doesn't make things better, it makes the team worse

Would do it, just to get rid of grabos contract, plus we dont even have to resign Ribeiro, but Ribeiro would give us more of a push then grabo. Doubt the caps do it though |
