I know the context of that trade. If you properly assess a player's potential, that trade shouldn't happen whether you're doing a "favor" or not. The ball was dropped. I simply accept that sometimes that happens and you move on. That trade was just a comparison of trading a player who ends up being good for a player turning into nothing, and how that will never be what JVR for Schenn will become, because both players are good.

Give Lava till Friday, if they don't win dramatically on Friday I think you fire Lava over the weekend, get Murray up, instill some defensive awareness and smart hockey sense. Go from there.

If I'm Snider, Luukko, and Holmgren, I'm interviewing players and figuring out who's a candidate for "ownership" of the team. Meaning, find those players that will hold themselves accountable because they want to be a part of the team's future. That is, their heart is in it. Anyone who seems to vacillate can hit the road.

What is that real core to you?
The people I would really be looking at keeping would be Grossman, Rinaldo, Giroux, Simmonds, Hartnell, 1 of Coots or Schenn and Read. The rest I could care less if they ever return.
No one knew Sharp was going to turn out the way he did. You have the benefit of hindsight. How many other player for player trades did the Flyers make that did NOT burn them? C'mon. - Flyskippy
Sharp had obvious potential based on his play with the Phantoms and was making very little money. There was no reason to dump him except to appease an angry coach whose shelf life was already running out.

Well I'd make a coaching move now for one main reason-It's hard to fully evaluate these guys in this system. Bring in a guy who will have them playing with discipline, in a system designed to suit their abilities, and then you have a better idea of what you have.
Also, the younger guys could really use a coach that is more teacher than motivator, and get them to fully embrace that good two way play means that they will be better players.

There's no heart to this team. We're still missing the leadership of a Lindros, Primeau, Pronger, Smith, Hatcher, and to a lesser extent, Richards. And it shows.
