Most important game of the season and this team comes out like this?
- MBFlyerfan

it's not so much the coming out part as the getting back part that sucks.

"Burned" is Sharp for Ellison or something. Maybe it turns out the Flyers "lose", but it won't be by a huge amount, if at all.
- eayost

That's only when the trade is looked at without context. Clarke did Sharp a favor because Hitchcock wasn't using him and there was no future for him here so long as Hitch was coach.

Lots of folks come across differently online. I've been accused of loving attention.

I just love talking puck and having a good time here.

Yeah, in real life Skip's a one eyed, midget pornographer with a poodle fetish and a harelip

Flyers are doing a good job collapsing around Bryz and protecting that 4 goal deficit.

The organization has to figure out what to do. This isn't something that will be fixed over night.

Skip, at the same time you give up JVR in a very risky trade. JVR showed to have potential to be a game changer.

Luke Schenn was always going to be a one dimensional d-man. Even at the time I think many of us saw it as giving up one of the best assets in a very arguable trade.

Holmgren should face a lot of heat here as well. He has made some good moves, but a lot of bad ones as well.

LA does not win the Cup without "one dimensional D men" such as Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene. A big physical punishing shut down defenseman is a critical element to a top team. That is what Luke Schenn has the potential to become.

2004 and 2010 disagree with you.

don't get me wrong, i hate what i'm seeing, and my very inner core is seething with anger. i've just found a way to stifle it and not let it really, really bother me. it's just come with age.

My thing is, and even at the time was that one dimensional d-men who are good in their own end are pretty easy to find. Look at how the team got Grossman for example.

Just me, but I think its pretty clear the team got burned on that trade. The bigger issue being, that Holmgren better do good this summer.

- flyer_nutter

If Luke Schenn reaches his potential. That is not an easy player to find.

They have to change their style defensively. Its brutal to watch.

Soooo boring. Any shots for the Flyers in the 3rd?

And has Rinaldo touched the ice?

So many bad passes. And no pressure 5 v 5.

Painful.

If they are smart, it won't take a long time to fix, though. But this is the time to set the foundation. Figure out who is part of the core moving forward, and figure out how to add the pieces needed.

There's a lot of talent, which has value in trades if they're smart about it.

That missed open-net goal by Giroux should be the promotional poster for the season.

No one knew Sharp was going to turn out the way he did. You have the benefit of hindsight. How many other player for player trades did the Flyers make that did NOT burn them? C'mon.

Yup. I don't mind losing when the team is competitive but this year its been a disaster. This team doesnt give you 60 minutes of hockey.
