Pope or not, he's still a muggle. We need a Bellatrix Lestrange or, if not, at least one of the Carrows.

Is that your suggestion for his Papal name? I like it.

Pope Paul VII, The Dude.

I'm sure JSaq will approve.

Sounds like a plan.. lets throw Cal Heeter in to have his confidence dismantled.

Heeter shouldnt play for a long time.

Same thing as Rick St Croix and Bob Froese.....Both went on to be more than competent goal keepers in the NHL... Dryden who was also a Collegiate Goalie with little to no experience...I can go on....Sometimes you gotta throw a guy the keys and see if he can drive....Not saying he should be a starter, but these three haven't been playing like champions...At All!!

Sometimes, you can kill both a goalie's confidence as well as a team's (again, see: Pelletier, Jean-Marc). The Flyers took Pelletier's insertion as a smack in the face to the team. Therefore, they didn't play hard for him, which in turn made him discouraged, and he never played another game.

Dryden was a rookie on a team that won the Cup.
St. Croix started as a backup on a team that lost in the Conference Finals (and I don't think he was all that good of an NHL goalie, as he never started more than 29 games in a season).
Froese was good, but was also part of a Flyers team that was always considered a playoff threat, if not Cup Contender.

This team is so pourous right now that Patrick Roy himself would have had his confidence shaken. The worst thing you can do to a young goalie is to throw him into a situation where he has no shot to succeed. If this team figures it out, it will be with the people they have.

Heeter's been very up and down at the AHL level. Probably not ready.

And is comparing him to Bob Froese and Rick St Croix supposed to be a compliment?

Your points all well taken, Im familiar with the circumstances surrounding Pelletier and bare in mind, this was the 1999 Flyers..The year of the Uber drama and nonsense galore Flyers..But I do see what your point is..That team had locker room garbage for DAYS . Again this is not a situation where you replace your starter, but more, one where both of your potential backups are in a state of flux between Philly/ADK and Neither is equipped with the tools to relieve our problems in net......The athletes with the proper mentality and temperment(Especially goalies) THRIVE under pressure...I tend to think, as much malaise as there is on this team, a young goalkeeper wouldn't endure such abuse as did JM Pelletier.... and as for Dryden, He was one of THE reasons for the cup championship(s) He didn't merely benefit from that Habs team(Brilliant tho they were), he was a direct contributor.

The Dude should not be Pope. The Catholic Church has enough problems, they don't need rampant legal misconduct issues, poor money management, corruption charges...wait, nevermind. DYKSTRA FOR POPE!
