That 5th rounder for Loktionov was so not worth it.

at this point we're going to have to package Kovalchuk to get rid of Tallinder.

I'd love to see someone in severe need of D help to take him in. Somehow I don't see that happening. Good news on the Boucher contract though, he will certainly be in camp come September. Anyone who can break any offensive record Stamkos set is quite impressive, and we sure could use another goal scorer on the right side.

I was initially worried about his size, but he compensates for it very well.

I was worried just as much about his maturity as well, clearly he loves it playing with Kovy. The look he had on his face when he saw Lokti's sick goal go in the net was priceless.

I was worried about his defense but he tries which is unusual for those damn lazy Ruskies.

Things that usually happen in a Devils game.

- If an opponent has a rookie, they will score their first NHL goal.
- If an opponent has a player with a historic slump, they will break it.
- If an opponent needs one more notch to reach a milestone, they will achieve it.
- Whichever defenseman these boards determine to be the current dog of the backline, that player will not be scratched.
- Ilya Kovalchuk will play 28+ minutes.
- Whatever scrub we nominate to skate on the off-wing of Kovalchuk will "look good" but not score a point.
- David Clarkson will fall down for no reason, at least twice. However, if he scores one goal, he will also get an empty-netter.
- The Carter line will be hugely effective, but not erase the memory of the 5-minute major that Bernier took in Game 6 of the Finals.
- Elias will look to the sky in a huff after almost scoring a goal (but will still manage a point sometime during the game).
- Chico Resch will misread a play, even in replays for three slo-mo reviews, before realizing his initial comment was incorrect.

That too. Its nice to know we don't have to monitor his minutes closely to hide any defensive deficiencies.

Kovy is great for Lokti. Top end skill, helps with the language barrier, and is a good example of how to be effective in all 3 zones. Could be exactly what Lokti needed to reach his potential in North America.

Kovy draws the defenders away from Loktionov which gives him space to create and luckily Lokti is really creative whether it be scoring goals or making good passes to kind Kovalchuk.

yep too everything said about Lokti. We're so fortunate he's looking this good this consistently. He's not a Butler that shows flashes of speed but can't be played more than 8 minutes. He's another Henrique; a kid with poise, maturity, skill on both ends. More grit with Henrique, more puck skills and creativity with Lokti. Love our top 2 centers. oh wait Zajac makes 5.75... and is our best 2-way center.... what a joke.

I knew the new lines would continue to produce. The way the players play their games is perfect for these lines. Bernier was crashing the net hard again and causing so much havoc near the crease. He's playing very well, as is Carter.. as is Gionta. Can't wait to get Zubrus back and dump Barch! Cantstopolous is a great addition too. Were set for another Cup run haha

but seriously, these wins are great for their confidence,, hopefully they continue to tighten up and we can be ready for the playoffs. Heck of a goal by Lokti.. sweet backhand by Henrique off of a beautiful play and great pass from Lokti. Who would've thought he'd be on our team... and playing like a top 6 center!?

Zajac will hopefully recover to form next year.

I figured Jersey would try to find Russian chemistry with Kovy. He played well in the KHL with his all Russian line and they were a couple of people who'd probably have difficulty cracking an NHL line-up. Hey, if he can make Loktionov look like Fedorov, can we get another Russian that he can make look like Mogilny?

I guess he'll have to settle for east europeans...

Looking forward to Zubrus' return. I like our forwards. I still have very mixed feelings about our defense.

Definitely not the well-oiled defensive system they were last year. Surprisingly more offensive minded than what it looks like on paper, however, conversely, the defensive positioning lapses are bizarre. You'd think with 5 mainly stay-at-home types that the Devils would be able to better in their own end than what's transpired this year.
