that works. I think Brock is going to develop beyond initial projections. Garth's ability to judge young talent may be his best(only) strength. That said, why doesn't he promote himself to Head scout and hire a new GM - someone not currently on payroll?
- jmo16

I have yet to see this "strength" people speak of.

There are three kinds of people who win the Lottery.

1) The guy who wins a couple of Million Bucks and thinks he can spend like a drunken sailor for the rest of his lifetime. He buys every Luxury in sight. He believes the future is NOW! Only to be busted with in a few years with little to show for it.

2)Then there is the guy who wins a couple of Million. He puts the Millions in the bank. Continues to go to work everyday. Buys used cars. Shops at Wallmart and eats fast food take out. He changes nothing and tells himself that tomorrow will be different. Tomorrow comes. He dies and his money goes to the STATE!

3)Then we have the guy who sits back for a moment. Takes stock of his assets. Spends wisely. Improves his lifestyle. Lives comfortably. He invests intelligently for his future. He upgraded his life and lives happily ever after.

If we were to replace Millionaire Lottery winners with NHL GM's.

What Past and Present GM's fall into those three Categories?

Our present does'nt fit into any of these categories? Do we really need to get into the last three behind him? Milbury, we kind of know the deal. All I know is if I won the lottery I'd pick option 1

Leafs just placed Steckel on waivers. Big, great on face offs, needs another chance.

no need for him unless we moved a center. Sounds too much like Reasoner, plus we have Aucoin if we needed a worthless replacement...for a worthless third line center.

Frans would be their 3rd line C
they are looking to trade Stoll, and already have Kopitar 1, Richards 2
Plus they are looking for W and D, thats where KO comes into play, young enough on a reasonable salary, plus playing with better talent, and coaching...
Nabby is only insurance for this yrs playoffs for them...

- Ur Not Me

they just resigned stoll this summer wtf u taking about?

I am going to say this again if this team was constantly getting into the palyoffs and are a winning team free agents would sign here regardless. The arena is just an issue cause the team is just that bad if they were winning no one would mention that
- kasperrko

I wont argue that point... but players sign with losing teams all the time... florida has been a loser forever and they still have signed players.

wrong...nielsens value isnt going to increase so you trade him now when you can get the most out of him. nelson and strome will be ready sometime next year and im pretty sure the isles arent winning the SC this year (or making the playoffs) so they should trade him now and package him for a dman.

they can lose with him, im sure they can lose without him.

- LetsGoIsles

So we should have traded Streit 2 years ago because deHaan was close to coming up?

yha that wouldn't have worked out all that well huh?
