Frans would be their 3rd line C
they are looking to trade Stoll, and already have Kopitar 1, Richards 2
Plus they are looking for W and D, thats where KO comes into play, young enough on a reasonable salary, plus playing with better talent, and coaching...
Nabby is only insurance for this yrs playoffs for them... - Ur Not Me
Okposo will be the same player no matter where he goes unless someone teaches him how to skate and to absorb a hit. That's not going to change with a new coach |

I put two trade scenarios on the Sabres board:
Option 1 Neilsen and KO for Myers and Stafford or Vanek
Option2 Neilsen for Myers
Below was their answer:
Option 3: dial tone - kear20

Reinhart, Donnovan, Pokka, Mayfield, Kitchon, Pedan, Hickey, Russo and Hamonic. We're loaded with decent defensive prospects. Sprinkle in a few free agents and our defense will be big and good. - keaner17

I am going to say this again if this team was constantly getting into the palyoffs and are a winning team free agents would sign here regardless. The arena is just an issue cause the team is just that bad if they were winning no one would mention that - kasperrko
They feed off eachother though. It's the ultimate sports catch 22. I used to talk to a lot of local atheletes here in Philly and in the days of Vet stadium they knew guys were bolting for other teams simply because of the venue. The Eagles were a generally successful franchise yet still struggled for UFA's in the 1990's.

Three trades opportunities for Islanders
1) Okposo, Nielsen and a 2nd 2013 and 2nd 2014 for Myers
2) Nielsen, Okposo, Bailey and 1st round/2nd round 2013 and 2nd round 2014 for Byfuglien, Evander Kane and a 4th and 6th round 2013.
3) Okposo and Nielsen and 3rd round pick for Myers - ISLES1119
I'm not sure how I can possibly respond politely to any of these suggestions. This just reminds me today is garbage day.
All crap, the second one is the worst. Please don't suggest such one sided and unrealistic deals, this is like an awful buffet. Just because there's lots of options doesn't mean it isn't awful.

I never understood the issue with long Island. It is a beautiful place. I do know players taht have been there, really enjoyed the area. I do understand there are ie, like any area. But with such a beautiful place, I figured it would be easy to get players. Christ If they love the big City, it is only 20 minutes away, the beach..I don't get it. - bixll
you dont get it?!?!
-how about a poopty facility that they would be working in, i dont even think its arguable that it is the WORST in the NHL...thats an issue.
-taxes are insane.
-no one denies that players who come here quite often like it, but those players have already been reeled in...liking the area is the "other" issue that doesnt come into play until the player FIRST signs...
-and if "they love the big city", they can just play for the rangers and not be 20 minutes away. |

Neilsen is expendable when Nelson and Strome are ready to come up... not before.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
wrong...nielsens value isnt going to increase so you trade him now when you can get the most out of him. nelson and strome will be ready sometime next year and im pretty sure the isles arent winning the SC this year (or making the playoffs) so they should trade him now and package him for a dman.
they can lose with him, im sure they can lose without him. |

agreed....but only assuming the "where are they going to be after 2015" issue was resolved. now that it is answered, more pressure is on garth to get players on the ice |

Especially since we dont have a 2nd rd pick.
Everyone wants to get a star in return for giving up nothing. Very nice but very unrealistic.
Nielsen and our pool of Center and "D" prospects are our bargaining chips. KO, Bailey, Reasnor and the rest of our Scrubs are throw ins.
If the Isles want to bring in a Top Winger for JT or a Top pair "D" man then they have to include at least ONE Blue chip prospect, a roster player or high Draft pick, along with Nielsen.
Stars dont come cheap. But it doesnt mean a mutually good deal cant be put together for both teams.
Oh and by BTW, Nielsens value is NOW! Not when he becomes expendable. At that time, when everyone realizes the Isles no longer need him. His value drops.
Will trading Nielsen, a prospect, a pick and lets say for argument sake Bailey. Make or break our chances for making the PO this Season???
So why wait?

I believe he's already expendable. I'd rather see Cizikas as our 3rd line center. At least that kid plays with heart and hits people |
