only reason I don't like that deal is because I'm not sold bernier isn't just a product of an extremely good defensive system in LA. I think if you put him here, much like Poulin, he'll struggle at times.
- Isles_since_6

this year the Kings D is lousy, unhealthy and hes doing better than Quick,
so I would def take a risk...nothing to lose

remember our D is not going to be bad forever, something has to change

Don't think they will trade Moulson unless they can't sign him at the trade deadline next year...Also, according to the Buffalo blogger, Sabres are desperate for a center...
- kear20

I don't think the Isles trade Moulson as long as JT is on the team. Their chemistry is too good and JT and Moulson are buddies.

Three trades opportunities for Islanders

1) Okposo, Nielsen and a 2nd 2013 and 2nd 2014 for Myers

2) Nielsen, Okposo, Bailey and 1st round/2nd round 2013 and 2nd round 2014 for Byfuglien, Evander Kane and a 4th and 6th round 2013.

3) Okposo and Nielsen and 3rd round pick for Myers

- ISLES1119

Okposo is garbage and so is Bailey. Nobody is going to trade players the caliber of Myers, Kane or Byfuglien for a package consisting of KO and Bailey with some other decent (not great) parts. You have to accept the fact that KO and Bailey have no value. Its like trading parking cones, along with Nielsen and picks for those guys. I don't see Winnipeg trading two of its best players for two parking cones, Nielsen and a couple of second rounders.

Some of these mock trade offers are funny. Do some of you guys truly believe that Bailey and KO are worth anything??? These guys suck! Bailey has proven....well jack sh!t in his several seasons as an Islander. Any other team wouldnt send back a solid player simply because Josh Bailey was included in the deal. He has had more than enough time to prove himself here but has never panned out. At least he can do pushups with chains around his neck though, impressive.
KO at times shows that he can be a decent player if he wants to....but he is incredibly soft, takes lazy penalties, and gives half assed efforts. How many of his 20 goals last season were scored after the Isles were way out of striking distance of the playoffs? Garbage, useless goals that should have been there earlier in the season.
Just because these guys were first round picks doesnt mean they have any value. You think back in the 90's any team would have made a trade to the Isles because we decided to throw in Scott Scissons?
Nobody wants Bailey or KO. Franz has much higher value than either of those guys do.

Reinhart, Donnovan, Pokka, Mayfield, Kitchon, Pedan, Hickey, Russo and Hamonic. We're loaded with decent defensive prospects. Sprinkle in a few free agents and our defense will be big and good.

Don't know about that. I think either or both could bring back some higher end (edit -- higher-end...not elite) prospects. People do make trades for skilled players that never panned out believing a change of scenery may do them well. Kyle Turris not only was still bouncing around from the AHL to the NHL and doing nothing at the NHL level, but had also just held out for a while for a bigger contract, and Phoenix still got a good D prospect and a second rounder for him.

I never understood the issue with long Island. It is a beautiful place. I do know players taht have been there, really enjoyed the area. I do understand there are ie, like any area. But with such a beautiful place, I figured it would be easy to get players. Christ If they love the big City, it is only 20 minutes away, the beach..I don't get it.

Never understood it either...there are far more economically-depressed/remote locations that manage to lure players. I continue to contend that, above all, it is the post-dynasty history of the team, its ownership situations, and its longstanding reputation as a laughingstock that keep players away. All the building and location stuff...sure I guess it plays a part, but any of those latter issues would be a distant second to the former.

@coreypronman: In OHL East Conf. coaches poll #Isles Strome named best stick handler, best passer, smartest player & best shootout player

They actually are.

Yes, Scott was asked for quite a bit & Torrey wouldn't trade the kid.

Agreed, that doesn't make the other 2 worthless as you suggest.

I doubt very much Strome will be traded people can talk all they want. It would have to be a pretty significant offer. I hope Strome turns out, having him as our second line center and if Frans sticks around as our third we'd be real strong down the middle. Get rid of some of our dead weight and add a op six winger our forward corps could look good. I agree with you, it's been time for over a year for a coaching change. That guy being behind the bench every night is at this point insulting to the fans and most of all the players that signed with this team. It makes this team look even more unprofessional in every sense if possible.

i agree with this except for the frans part...i want him gone... i think/know he has value now and the isles have cizikas who i love (captain material) and could play 3rd/4th line center and with nelson coming up soon, neilsen is expendable!!

Its not the Island (except for the taxes) Its the arena... NVMC is a shlt hole to play in. There are zero amenities for the players, the locker room is ancient by today's standards, there is nothing there to draw a player in.

Neilsen is expendable when Nelson and Strome are ready to come up... not before.

I think fans typically underestimate the value of a good venue for players. It's their office. If you have the choice between two jobs...one company is a notorious winner while the other is an 'up and comer' (okay I'm being optimistic). The notorious winner is in a state of the art building with a gym, spa, top notch work area etc. The up and comer is in a building that should be condemned, leaking sewage, cracked foundations etc...well...that choice starts to become a bit easier. These guys spend a lot of time in those buildings so it's definitely a big selling point.

Lets also not forget the previous uncertainty if a free agent was signing with a team that was headed to KC, Seattle, Quebec, LV... no one wants to sign with a team knowing that not only are they moving.. no one knows where... thankfully that has been eliminated from the equation.

I agree Strome is not being traded. I'm going to shock some by going against my Wolfpack brother. We can move Frans as Casey is good enough as #3 and Strome is #2 center.

that works. I think Brock is going to develop beyond initial projections. Garth's ability to judge young talent may be his best(only) strength. That said, why doesn't he promote himself to Head scout and hire a new GM - someone not currently on payroll?

I am going to say this again if this team was constantly getting into the palyoffs and are a winning team free agents would sign here regardless. The arena is just an issue cause the team is just that bad if they were winning no one would mention that
