Orpik is an interesting situation. He's not going to be a top 4 dman on his next contract, but I cant see him taking much of a paycut with the market out there.

Some team will give him the Jay McKee treatment like the Blues and offer too much for too long. Fortunately the Pens have some options in the pipeline.

He has a lot of tailoring to have done, so he alwaysss shops at Duggars.

They have to start with 38's and tailor them into 33's. I was told by the owner of Duggars clothing, who has been dressing Sid since he was 10 or 11 years old.

Not an autograph guy, I would rather meet the players and chat with them, then bother them for a signature. You seem to know the area.

Quite well. I'm good friends with a few people there. Exchange student is always a good position to be in even more with the chicks. Good times.

Yea. He took less last time. At this point you'd almost want to see him get the money grab because its better for both parties (and worse for the team paying him).

It's all up to what he wants. If he wants to stay here and take the Ray Shero discount, then he'll probably be welcomed back. But if he wants to make $4 mil x 3 years somewhere, he'll probably get it.

I know its probably taboo to speak like this but do we want him still? This season is big for him, first one he has entered healthy. He needs to show the 2009 version on a consistent basis, so far I don't think he has.

Despres, morrow, Harrington, Pouliot, Maatta, as well a couple others will be playing pro in no more than 3 years. Sorry boys, but someone needs to be traded (if Letang stays). The question is who. I'd say Pouliot. If Morrow does develop into what we think he will, his offensive upside will be similar to Letangs. Despres has also shown a solid offensive side. No need for anymore offensive minded forwards. Harrington, Maatta become too valuable because of their defensive games.

I'm thinking Shero drafted Pouliot for the purpose of trading him for something big in a year or 2

There were a number of exchange student around here. Our plant manager has had many over the years. And with the new schoold being built in New Glasgow, it is a huge Rugby field now, Soccer as well. But my daughters team was 2 time provincial champs in rugby recently.

One (or more) will become stud prospects at the NHL level before that decision is made. And when they are moved it will be for a Whitney/Goligoski deal. Rinse, repeat.

Just know that it wont be exactly the same. Letang is dynamic. Morrow will not be dynamic. That isn't meant to be a knock on Morrow but only few d men can move around like Letang can. Hell only few players in the world can move like Letang can.

This was more what I was getting at when I said it would almost be best for both parties for him to take the money grab elsewhere. Take up another team's cap space and allow a prospect to come into the fold at a fraction the cost.

Yeah, there's that... If he keeps playing inconsistent this season, and as a mid-30's player next season keeps going in that direction, I agree, wishing him well and letting him go might be the best course of action.

I still believe he'll be re-signed for at least 2 years, the time needed to see our young d-man ready to contribute.

I thought Morrow was supposed to be a great skater as well. Anyway, he has a better shot than Letang. Booming and accurate.

Just like you think he'll want a 5 year deal Jkg, but anything above 2-3 years wouldn't work for us. Just based my thought on Shero's way of thinking. He did that to TK, Dupper, Kuni, Cooke...the age factor will be very important.

Edit: There's always a Feaster out there to hand a 5 year deal to an aging d-man.

Awessome. Congrats to your daughters Rugby is such a passionate sport and fun to play. I played for a year as a wing while in East Pictou. Loved it.

In soccer we were 2nd place in Provincials, 2nd in Regionals for East Pictou...2nd in Maritimes and 2nd Atlantic Canada for Pictou United under-18. Never got the gold while there but I didn't choke in any finals

Seconded. He'll have 4 points tonight to make up for his scoreless game last time out. (frank)ing bum.

I hope the Pens learned their lesson last time they played Toronto. If Pittsburgh plays like it has against the Islanders and Boston, this could be a 5-2 type game. If not, ...

So the Pens have only been to extra time twice this year, won them both. Only team in the league without a loser point.
