Why do people insist on moving players out of their natural positions so much? Strome is a center. He was drafted to be the team's #2 center behind JT. He has excelled at center his entire career in Jr. Why would the Isles bring him to the NHL to move him on the wing, especially when they have a glaring hole at #2 center?

Players are not like pegs that can be placed arbitrarily in random spots on a board. You can't just move guys from wing to center or wing to the other wing and expect the same quality of play. If you're going to have Strome in the NHL at 20, at least help him by letting him play his natural position.

- Jethro09

That is what moving him to the wing will do.

Because a centreman can be moved to the wing and adapt very well.

There is alot of responsiblity placed on a centreman.

Let him play a year on the wing with JT... build his confidence!!!

Then go from there!!!

Not a fan of sticking him on the wing ever. Maybe on the PP.

next year should be an open competition for roster spots...let the best players make the roster..if that means strome starts in bport then that's fine....I really see nelson pushing for a full time spot next season..when he is done filling out he really reminds me of keith primeau

this team could definitely use a big talented center like that.

what we need to see next season is nothing off the waiver wire to fill out our roster. Let the kids who earn their spots play there. Donovan should have been here this year over finley and hickey for sure, and I believe he would have been as or more effective than strait.

StapeNewsday: #Isles are hopeful Grabner's injury is only a 10-day absence. Garth Snow headed to #BST game tonight to evaluate for a possible callup.

would love to see Nino get a shot playing with JT, but since it'll be the third line (or part of the bottom 9 as it should be referred to) it could be Nelson or maybe one of the swedes

just as long as we never have to watch two of Aucoin, Reasoner and Boulton in the line up at the same time.

That's actually a positive sign. Probably means they're not going to just go with one of those plugs.

If they can get any value out of Boyes at the trade deadline, he needs to go. Hopefully Snow is smart enough to realize this....

maybe after the trade deadline we'll see what this team should have looked like after training camp (donovan maybe called up to replace LV or Streit, Nino/Nelson/One of the swedes playing in the top 6)

Nielsen is not a #2 centre, nor is anyone else on the Islanders. If they are willing to play the current players as #2 centre there is no reason that they won't play Strome as #2, like he was drafted for.

JT's job isn't to feed Strome as a winger, it's to take pressure off of Strome as a centre when he makes the jump.

This kid has confidence and next season it will be up to him to transfer that confidence to the NHL level with 2nd line minutes. First line minutes burn kids out, 3rd or 4th line minutes wastes their time if they have 2nd line talent.

Strome to the show on the 2nd line in 2013-2014.

Jesse is a bust. He hardly did anything with the Islanders before so there is nothing to get excited about here. Europe also has a different type of game hell I think I can tear it up there

Really a late second round 25 y/o bust? already thats what you are going to label?

Nino looked strong tonight, but should have finished a gimme in the third. He did get a goal earlier though, and was around the net a lot in the second making things happen. Ullstrom got the OT winner...tap in on the PP off a really nice pass by Nelson.
