Agreed. Better stride too. Still not the best acceleration, but he's not just this slow, off-balance string bean anymore either. Still some work to do, but he's also not the clueless shellshocked Nino that just vacates the puck in the corner that we saw last season. That said, I don't want him up here if the Isles just put him with Reasoner and Aucoin or Joensuu. He can't carry a line like that...he can round out a line that already has some skill and playmaking.

I can almost hear Nino's agent saying "You sure you don't want me to take this to the media? I think we can force a trade here!"

I'm a little surprised. Snow attended the Bridgeport game last night presumeably to decide who to call up. I guess he was just there to get a look at the guys....

Snow looking on who to bring up? He has no clue. Probably there to have some beers and watch a hockey game. He was probably not even paying attention. therefore why Ullstrom was brought back

Ullstrom should play. Even forgetting everything else about how he's developed enough and deserves a chance to find his game at the NHL level, keep in mind he's in the last year of his ELC. How are you supposed to know what you have and if/how long to sign him for if he's just on the bench or playing 8 minutes? Let the guy take a regular shift. He'll have good games and he'll have bad games. Such is life with a rookie. Actually, it's a similar deal to Marcus Foligno on the Sabres. Great looking player at times, but has gone through some rough stretches this season as well. But you can see the tools are there. Players like that won't learn to use those tools by being benched.

Capuano though having the "nice guy" label does not seem like the best guy to help develop these players or coach or do just about anything for that matter

I don't have a problem with Ullstrom being brought back up. I'm not sure what to say about having both Jesse and Ullstrom in the lineup since they're both essentially the same type player.

I have no problem with resigning Streit if he comes at 2.5-$3 mil per season. If the rumors are correct that he's seeking a similar salary to his present contract then I say bon voyage. While Streit is indeed a good puck carrier, he simply lacks in too many categories to be considered a top pairing dman so his tag has to be reduced a bit. In fact, I'd argue he's not even an effective top 4 pairing player on a good team.

In addition, he also would have to give up the Captaincy. This is Tavares' team at this point. When saying he's the Captain for a reason, I'm not so sure just what that reason is. He's not a vocal player by any means and not the type of guy to rally the troops. He's a 'lead by example' player who became a one year all star and thus allowed to become the Captain. I've become concerned that his 'example' hasn't been so good on the ice either as I've seen Streit not give 100% on many occasions.
This team now needs a Captain who can motivate with words as well as actions.

I've watched Streit play consistently since joining the Isles and his effort is not an issue. None of us know how the other players feel about him or how well he leads this team behind closed doors. JT is a leader on this team. He doesn't need the "C" for that. He leads by example and by how he conducts himself. There is no reason to re-sign Streit and rip the "C" off his sweater just to give it to JT for aesthetics.

first of all we are not in the locker room so any questions about his leadership are purely conjucture or speculation. second... the players...not the coaches or garth or chuckie voted Streit the captain..also it looks really bad taking away the c of off someones chest when they are still on the team...i know we all want jt to be the captain..but it just looks bad...

I don't think it's aesthetics. Yeah I don't know what goes on in the locker room but JT is the leader of this team and should have the C on his sweater. I don't need to be in the locker room to see it. He truly leads by example. He's tenacious and never gives up, busts his ass every shift, plus the guy is the face of this franchise, not Streit. Anyone can see who leads this team on the ice. JT deserves and I'm going to go out on a limb here but I'm sure he wants that C. We can do better than Streit for our top pairing and if we can't it's time for Snow to leave as well. I don't hate Streit don't get me wrong but more as a 3/4. If his contract demands are high which they are from what we've heard whether it's a starting point or not or whether it's just rumour BS it's time to move on and for Snow to start being a GM and not resign players just because they are here and like it here. Be a GM and sell what we have here and what we are going to be. It's about time this team stops settling for players and Snow starts getting players.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. Just last game alone I saw three instances where he completely coasted on the backcheck with oddman rushes one of which resulted in a goal. I like Streit and think he carries a valuable role to the team as the pp qb but I've seen very little from him in the way of speaking on behalf of the team or regarding the team in the way that good Captains do. Why? Because it's not his style to talk. This team needs an attitude and identity and that will typically follow the role of their appointed leader.
A few games ago Streit got pissed with a questionable call by the officalls, he instantly came out yelling at them and proceeded to send Lucic sprawling into the boards with a decent shove. How often do you see that from him? Yet he showed that he had it in him to do it. Meanwhile players of other teams can brush right on by him without the least bit of physical reisistance. I see that as an effort issue.

What a bunch of (frank)ing idiots that run that county. I hope it works out in Brooklyn. I'm not convinced it will especially if the team isn't any good. Im not complaining but the fact is many current season ticket holders won't be attending nearly as many games due to logistics, myself included. Ill certainly make that sacrifice for a better team but I fear it will never be the same.
- Isles316

it will never be the same...but that shouldnt be a fear...brooklyn is going to be blown away by how well the islanders do there...

I don't think there was ever any intention of bringing him up in the first place. I'm guessing that Snow simply took this opportunity to watch the team play and view the whole club.
