I hear ya there, it shouldn't be a concern for people going to a hockey game to have to worry about being harrassed because they want to wear their teams jersey. It'd be nice to think that for the most part hockey fans are more respectful than that but its always a few bad people ruining the good things for everyone. I wonder if anyone can comment on what its like to attend a Canucks/Blackhawks game wearing the visiting teams jersey ? - Ballam
Everything goes out the window with Van fans. All the anger pent up from the goofs that post on hear about the Canucks, is taken out at the UC with those fans. Sports radio in chicago covers the hawks about as well as ESPN, but they were debating who the biggest rival was at this point. Just in terms of the hate factor, i think that gives the nod to VAN. I hate the Canucks. Losing to them is a terrible thing. |

I can comment on that...I've worn my Hawks jersey when we played in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.
For the most part I take some good natured jabbing and people as why I'm a Blackhawks fan (living in Vancouver). For the most part it's all fun, sometime people start to get riled up but I have no problem giving it right back, which usually quiets them down.
Last season I went to a game and sat next to a kid about 10 - 11 year old boy. His face lit up when he saw my red Blackhawks jersey because he too was a Blackhawks fan. I chatted with the boy and his father for a while and they told me the little guy was afraid to wear Hawks jersey because the last time he did he took too much abuse. I'm sure these happens in all arenas, but I find it deplorable that any other group of fans would pick on a little guy like that. Needless to say I did my best to cheer a bunch with the boy, lots of high fives and fist pumps. We won the game 5-1 so at the end of the night we had the last laugh. |

I think it's a matter of what market you're in too.
Speaking only on reputation, I think east-coast markets (looking squarely at you, Philadelphia) tend to have a larger than normal meatball-to-citizen ratio at sporting events, and thus, a greater probability of unpleasant encounters with the locals. - FredoXV
One thing i'd really like to know from any member of the 2010 Cup team is....what was it like before, during and after those games in Philly. That's a city with a rep for making life HELL on opposing players.

Kings and Sabres are in trade talks. A league source says LA will trade with Buffalo. We shall see. |

Tell you what Philco, the City of Brotherly Love is no place to show off your team allegiance if it ain't the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers or 76'ers. And when they don't have outsiders to abuse, they turn on themselves.
Absolute worst thing you can be is a New York Giant fan showing off in Philly. That's a death wish. |

Good post RJ....and pretty much what i hear as well. Bet some of our guys could write a nice little book on their experiences in Philly.

The way it works in Philly is this - if you arent from there, they hope you are dead. And if you haven't died yet, they want your death to be very painful. And if you are from New York, double that. |

Not going to debate about your evaluation of Eager as an idiot etc...
By every physical hockey metric......I don't think there would be one GM picking Bollig over Eager.....Not close.
Eager has better hands, a better shot a much better and faster skater.
Bollig isn't allowed 8 mins of ice time now and Q. rolls his lines a lot more.
I have nothing against Bollig but Eager is a better hockey player. - Al
I mostly agree with your assessment.
And to add to it... neither guy deserves a regular spot on this Hawks roster. |

After reading through this whole thread, I'll gladly take Stan over the GMs we have posting in here. Talking about buying out Keith or trading Leddy or a 1st for a 4th line plug. Yikes. |

The old Stadium back in the early to late 80's was a death wish for fans of the other team....
Fights almost every night....And when the combatants got done with each other the off duty Chgo cops, who were the security back then, would finsh their night off really well....
They would bring folks into the basement, which had rats the size of small cats....Leading to the basement was a long flight of stairs....
Once the door closed many of the boys were launched down the stairs, with their hands handcuffed behind their back....Allegedly.

.....Only if Eager could be trusted to not implode.
As good as this club is they can't afford to take needless penalties. |

Sounds like a scene out of the '68 Democratic convention....i remember watching games on t.v. from the Stadium and fights would break out and you'd see both benches stand up to watch...and you'd hear fans reacting to landed blows with bloodthirsty passion.
Found a Stadium brawl in the stands from '82

I know as fans we're often calling for trades, but if we were wearing the daddy pants we wouldn't be so quick to pull the trigger on a deal. I'm not a fan of the GMs that are frequent traders, more often than not it doesn't work out. Sometimes it does (i.e. LA) but not often.

>Yep, agree
>But Q can always "spin the wheel" if he doesn't like what he sees
>Personally, I like Al's suggestion of getting Kruger on the ice more by having him play wing
>It also would take a little defensive responsibility off his plate
>#16 has high hockey IQ, great vision, and can keep up with Kane
>Hope Hayes does well -- he doesn't have to mash people through the boards -- BUT he does have to use his size and wingspan to his advantage to score and create scoring chances
>Also hope he much stronger on his skates - SnapitUpstairs
