Did Frank Omiyale take a pay cut to make room on the line

- philco28

Frank Omiyale is so jacked you actually mentioned him here. It is the first time anyone has mentioned his name since......um.....a bears game when he false started...

Solid but never seemed to get a fair shot...and probably just a notch below most NHL players.

never saw him out of position.

What did others think of that Mason Raymond SO move?

I thought it was total garbage. If that was a "spin-o-rama" Mason needs to chat with Denis Savard for some pointers.

A snow shower like that is a stop and pivot.

There's a guy I wouldn't mind having back. It's too bad his cap hit wouldn't work here.
- EKolb13

I agree. I always liked him and I think he would fit in well with the team now. He would be great on the 4th but can fill in above. Reunite with Toews and Hossa for a few games, too. Plus while not gifted like Holmstrom or Dino C. He really creates havoc in front of the net.

all right so shoot out goals like this are going okkkk.....this should not have counted.

Call it the "snow shower" move.

They should just change the rules to you can skate anywhere any direction untill you shoot the puck. Thats going to be the new move of giving a snow shower to the goalie blinding him prior to shooting. Smart move not so sure its a sportsmanlike move

It's a Nux player. Would anything else be expected? He learned it from twots like the sisters, Alexis and Kesler.

EDIT: And some people wonder why these f(u)ckers are the most-hated team in the league.

The whole shootout is a farce
I think a guy should be able to go around the net and do whatever untill the puck is shot with a maximum shot clock of say 20 seconds in the backround

If they have to do something, it should be like the classic penalty shot.

Thing is guys keep trying to be creative and then there's the gimmicks, including a couple by Kaner. And that's where it really gets its labeling of a farce, BS, etc. Like the guy from OTT the other day, Bertuzzi-the-felon, and that jag lips now from the Nux.

Now all that said, I still believe I have a better option.

* Go right to a 3-on-3 SD OT & a 10-min period.
* Minor penalties yield a penalty-shot.
* Switch ends (long change just like per-2)
* No TO's, no shootout.

That will all but guarantee an actual hockey game winner. Put provision in for add'l 10-min SD OT. Switch ends again.
Start games 30 mins sooner to accommodate late-running games.
2 pts for a win, ZERO for a loss.

Now hockey steps up to the plate (pun intended) with the big boys and has just WINS and LOSSES. No ties, no OTL, ROW, SOW, all this f(u)cking-give-everyone-a-trophy-mindset BS that gives hockey just another black eye (again, pun intended).

Doubt he gets snowed by his own guys in practice. He's just a head-case anyway. I almost want to see the 'Hawks play the Nux again in the playoffs. Hoping Schneider doesn't get the start in a UC game and then see the 'Hawks score a touchdown again. I wanna see Bobbi-Lu cry again.

Have a 10 minute overtime, 5 minutes 4 on 4 and 5 minutes 3 on 3. If the score ends in a tie after that, each team gets a point. The shootout is a gimmick that long ago wore out it's welcome.

Go back to the old overtime/tie system and 2 point games. If they're tied after the overtime period, the game is a tie. Keep the shootout for the fans on the peripheral to keep them interested. Create a stat that records shootout goals and award a trophy for it at the awards ceremony in Vegas.

Problem solved!

Yeah, gotta agree with this sentiment.

I can still remember, all these years later, going to a Bears game with my Dad at Wrigley against SF. Guy sitting just the row in front of us had a flask, of course it was cold and I was really scared because this guy not only got drunk beyond drunk, but every other word out of his mouth was a swear word. I cringed with every play that went against the Bears because the stream of profanity was beyond comprehension.

To say it bothered me -- yeah -- because if I can recount the story today, I know it had an impact on me.

If you're out with buddies at a bar and there's not kids around, that might be OK but in a setting like the UC, I'd say no -- really -- even now with my kids as young adults, I really cringe when we've gone to games and people make a$$es of themselves.

Completely agree here. I've been know for colorful and creative usage of four letter words, but in my opinion, public places - games, restuarants, stores, etc - are always a place to show reasonable self control. Just a showing of class and respect for one's fellow man. (Bars are the exception to the rule in most cases).

Just my opinion, but nothing is worse that sitting near wasted/loud-mouthed fans at any sporting event. Personally, I've never been a fan of getting boozed beyond all reason at sporting events, because I actually care to follow and understand what's going on. And most people who become "that guy" at the game don't really care about the game anyway - they just want attention.

You know, even when your kids are past being kids and are adults, it's still bothersome. Took the family a few years ago to our annual Columbus road trip. Couple of really drunk Bluejacket fans were giving my kids a hard time because they were wearing their Hawks jerseys and had also brought some signs hoping to end up on the Comcast broadcast back home (they did BTW!).

I was really pissed off but bit my lip and told my kids to do the same -- not a lot of sense in getting thrown out after making the trip.

After the game ended and the drunken bozos staggered off, several Columbus fans came up to us. I was initially worried that they might want to start more crap but to my surprise and faith in fellow man, they APOLOGIZED on behalf of all the Columbus fans for the drunken and boorish behavior of those goofs! We all thanked them and talked about how we all hate going to an event having to then deal with this kind of bad behavior. There really is no need for getting wasted at a sporting event nor any call for the kind of language we heard. Clearly, I think most of us are in this camp.

It's OK to have a beer, it's OK to complain about a call or missed offsides or whatever, but no need in public for the stream of profanity and boorish behavior. It just makes everyone's experience awful.

JJ, mind if I link the trailer to my new short film for some entertainment during this losing streak? Shot in Chicago, New Buffalo MI & St. Clair MI. Main character in one scene (in the movie not the trailer) is reading the Oct 2009 NHL Preview issue of ESPN magazine with Toews, Huet, Kane, & Hossa on it.

Our experience has always been GREAT in Columbus -- really easy to get to, nice hotels, good food nearby -- and based on that experience, good fans.

I have always felt bad for the fans there supporting the team -- they really deserve better than what they have seen but hopefully they will turn that around.
