WTF, Ott demands Leddy plus? My goodness boys some of the prices being layed out for roll players is a tad askew. Lets tighten it up out there.
- TrueGrit

Have you watched Ott play? He'd fit right in with the 'Hawks forwards and give Q a ton of line alternatives.

You have to look beyond just a single player and think high level: How does that players' presence make other players / line combo's better.

Depth guys like him is what brought the 'Hawks the 2010 cup.

EDIT: There's also the factor of dealing from BUF's perspective. They are going to have more than just one or two suitors for Ott.

Circumstances that factor in:

NJ has had little success in signing Clarkson long term and they do not want to lose another top 6 player for nothing ie: Parise....

Leddy has the same agent that Suter did and the Hawks are rumored to be bent out of shape with that guy.

Hawks ahve puck moving Dmen in the pipeline that they could bring along in the same way they did Leddy... Ottawa will be looking to replace Karlsson's lost production and puck moving ability on the blueline and may over pay for a guy like Leddy...

A championship this year would give them another few years of slack with the general fanbase to ease any fan anger at moving a guy like Leddy...

I'm not saying it could or will happen, just throwing some things out there that could factor in to any trades for top players...

If Bowman deals Leddy for Neil, he should be fired immediately.
- Holes02

I don't think being fired would be an appropriate punishment...it would have to be something worse.

I understand Neil brings the physical bottom 6 presence, but Leddy is a future top 4 puck moving dman with offensive upside.

It would have to be Neil+.

And the + would have to be something of use in the future. Not like a Lalonde type player

I hope you have a good supply of blood pressure medication to see you over the next three weeks.

That doesn't apply here. Meatheads are not keyed in on Leddy. We all know Leddy has a huge upside but he doesn't make Chelsea Dagger play that much. And that's what the meatheads care about; how many times they get to dance any given night at UC.

It's DK, Seabs, Sharp, Toews, Hoss & Kane. Followed closely behind by Hammer and Bolly. The first group of guys are your "One Goal" primers.

I don't disagree that Ott would be a nice add, but you also have to remember that Nick Leddy is a 21-year old puck moving defenseman. At his age, Duncan Keith was still learning gap control under Yawney in Norfolk. Players of Leddy's ilk don't grow on trees.

I do not believe that Ottawa wants to deal Neil. But, it would be impossible to say no to Leddy. I just do not believe Bowman would offer up a good young Dman who is still on an entry level deal.

Unless Bowman has decided Leddy is un-signable, that might be the dumbest move of his tenure.
- Holes02

While I'd love to see Leddy stay here, I can't say SB moving him is a dumb move unless I knew the return.

Let's say Leddy is moved for the BEST return (whatever that is) and SB can back-fill his 3rd pairing spot with another Nick Boynton type ... AND the top 2 pairings' TOI is NOT notably increased, I'm OK with it.

But I really don't know what Leddy's return is. Not even sure if JJ or Al would take a stab at that either.

So you can't say moving him is a dumb move unless you know the return.

Hard to believe Leddy goes. If so determined to make a Cup run I think Leddy is better all around offensively than the player who would replace hin, namely, Visnovski.

I would not do this; however, if Leddy goes I say to Bry Murray give us both Neil and Z Smith and we exchange our late first round for yours, which could yield a blue chip prospect.
Visnovski shouldn't have a high price tag, unless competitive pricing is enacted. For an older so- so Visnovskij? Be serious! But that is how Chicago would have to look at the situation.

Oh btw Ottawa does not want a Stalberg.[url]:

Oh, without a doubt. I'm not advocating moving him. I'd like him to stay. But if SB can get an "OMG" return, a return that Q solidly endorses, a return that makes the 'Hawks a much tougher playoff team, then by all means it must be considered.

Leddy is an awful lot to give up for Niel.

No way would I make that deal for a 33/34 year old player.

If we deal Leddy, who from Rockford is the puck-moving dman who comes up to take his spot?

I certainly would not do that. Now for Ott, that is a different story. But am not too sure on that either. JJ, Al ???

I don't know if there is a NHL ready puck moving d-man in Rockford so if they were to trade Leddy I think the choices would be Brookbank or Monty.

Montador!

Seriously, there isn't much in the puck-moving department other than Clendening, and he isn't ready yet.

There is always Brett Lebda, who is currently in Binghamton on an AHL deal.

thats what should go down. We get a big, physical 4C under contract the next three years at a good hit who is over 52% at the dot this year so far.

We move a third pairing dman due for a raise when we have dmen to spare

I wouldn't mind having Hecht, but not at the cost of Leddy.

Hecht for Pirri?

John,

In your opinion who do you think the Hawks will be willing to part with
in a trade and aside from the core who would be your untouchables?

- jhawk159

First question: Stalberg definitely, maybe Frolik or possibly Leddy for the right return

Second question: Kruger, Johns, Danault, Teravainen, Saad

Doesnt Latendresse have concuss issues?
- hockey nut 28

"Concussion issues" is a term that can be applied to over half the NHL. Not exaggerating.
