Showcase for a trade...let the rumors begin!!

If your thinking Ice Hogs who might be soon traded I would look to the two boys who weren't called up.

If Hayes is called up to be a center I can see the logic....Mayers has little left and imo Kruger is a better wing.

Hayes playing center is a disaster.

At this point I think any of the Rockford boys (including Hayes) could be traded, but we thought the same thing last year too.

I'd like Hayes to stick, it gives Stan more options come trade time. Not to say Hayes will be traded, but if he can stick on the roster then maybe somebody else can go (i.e. Kruger).

Eli...Hayes has been lighting it up lately...24 goals on the year?

Has his production lately been at wing?

Since Hayes is cheap, I would guess that if he produces he stays. Hawks will need to move bloated contracts sooner or later.

This is where GMs earn the big bucks...next years cap concerns vs. this years roster and playoff implications.

If people are offended by a nickname of Jesus for Saad....then i have lost hope. It;s tongue in cheek. Nobody is quoting biblical phrases or editing team names like our friend used to do over at the DH blog in regards to the Devils.

For Hayes to be effective he has to be physical...consistency. Something that plagued Brouwer for a long time. He has to use that big frame, otherwise, it's a pointless call up.

For everyone talking about Sharp being bought out, what about Keith? Talk about a deal that is going to haunt this team long term. Guy continues to regress, and could be the most overrated player in hockey. Like a few others, imagine what this team could be if Keith and Seabrook awoken? Paying a guy top cash to post a monsterous 2% shot percentage is comical. So if we are going to make all the cases in the world for Hossa, and Sharp, then I give you Keith...Honestly you very well could have his replacement on this team already in Leddy....Not seeing a bunch of top 6 players who have proven anything at the NHL level in the Hawks system or on this team....

What has alarmed me the most during the past 2 games is this: The streak is over...thank you for the memories, but now you are in a stretch run in a shortened season, where teams are desperate. IN fact, more teams are desperate because of the condensed schedule. The Hawks came out flat in the 2nd vs Colorado and the 1st vs Edmonton..Why? There is no sense of urgency....If that starts to happen, you start buildling bad tendencies and you can't just flip on a switch on April 30th and think it'll change.

This team will be tired again....April is brutal for amount of games vs off days. I dont expect them to win every game. however, they need to come out and work and get some things corrected if they want to achieve their one goal

He's been playing at center. It's not the production that's atrocious, it's his play at center. Also, he sucks at the dot.

Gotcha...was simply wondering if he had been moved back to wing due to his "atrocious" play at the dot.

Knowing the Hawks he'll be at center...why change something if it's working.

....Something that plagued Brouwer for a long time. Although Brouwer was a more accomplished goal scorer in the AHL.

Like I said earlier...If Hayes is penciled in at center I get the logic, if not Smith and Morin make more sense to me.

You are preaching to the choir on Keith....wrote the same on Monday.

Anyone who wants to complicate the PP malaise to anything more than primarilly
awful shooting by the player with the most shots and PP ice time is missing the pitch...Not to say others things can't improve too.

Seabrook should be a fixture then Leddy...

Is there anyone in Rockford that is at least consistently average at the dot? The one game I saw in Milwaukee it looked like most of the Rockford centers were getting Richarded around and losing draws consistently

There is one player who can win faceoffs most of the time between the two cities....Toews.

Agreed. if you think about it...you buy out Keith OR trade him....and slide Leddy up with Seabrook. Keith and Leddy similiar players so the transition for Seabrook wouldn't be difficult.

Keith is painful to watch on the PP, and his inability or lack of want, to put a body on anyone in the blue paint is alarming. Yet, he gets a free pass in town because he's Duncan Keith...Always an excuse by most media members or the talking heads....

I'm not a Keith hater, but if people want to buy out Sharp or Hossa...whats the going rate on a regressing, 1 dimensional D man, being paid like a complete player? Price is still sky high...ballsy move but does bowman have the nuts to do it? No.

As you know, I've been banging this drum for quite some time this season (with my "this team could be scary good if Keith and Seabrook ever play up to abilitiy") -- as well as past few years.

Keith way overrated IMO and certainly not earning what he's being paid. Leddy's been more physical than Keith this year (not saying much but at least he WILL engage). How many chances have we seen these guys take this year and get burnt. Cycling and recyling in our zone only to end up losing the puck and seeing it end up in our net.

Keith's "deer in the headlight" act carrying puck up on the PP has GOT TO END!!! Would love to see him and that monster contract moved. I've heard all about the "but he faces other teams' top lines/players" all before -- his +/- (and Seabrook's) this year DOES SAY IT ALL -- they are +2 while the other D men are all in double digits. There's a reason for that, and that's with their minutes reduced.

I thought Keith was way overrated in the Norris year -- but the hype and the Hawks overcame all of that. Keith couldn't hold Lidstrom's jock IMO.

I couldn't care less about the religious overtones, I only dislike the Saad is Jesus reference because Saad isn't very good yet. But if folks want to use it I won't complain.

Otherwise Steve, I don't disagree with your assessment at all. You make very good points in my opinion. I don't think Keith will ever be close to a Norris Trophy again.

Oh god...if the Hawks give up any significant asset for Latendresse I think I'll boycott the rest of the season.

Not only is he one hit away from his career being in serious jeopardy, but for a player his size, he plays with about as much physicality as Alexei Zhamnov.

I'm with you....The more I watch him, the more I feel horrible for Seabrook. Guy gets more grenades then anyone in the league.

Keith seems to have platued very quickly....I'd quietly shop him to see what I could get for him.

That's the whole point...he isn't very good...yet. However, some think he's come to save the day with his fantastic over hyped play...Oh well....Hopefully he morphs into a legit power forward. Nothing against the kid at all, just the over hype around him.

thanks...like you and others, the cap in the next few years is going to be very scary and I don't disagree about buying out a Hossa or Sharp, but I'll also throw Keith in that mix. As long as Leddy continues to improve, which compared to last year, he's remarkably better.

Forgot to tell you...save the date...7/1/2014 I'll be hosting a Bollus day party. When some poor sap team over pays for that guy's services. An impromptu Bolllus Day could happen this summer if Bowman has the nuts to deal him....

he's got a NMC but if Campbell can go...Keith can go.

hell, trade him to a Canadian team so he can stare in all the Tim Horton's commercials they can air....I'd almost take picks over players for hiim....

- DarthKane

In case you guys were serious, I am hoping you are not, but I hate to burst your bubble, but showcases are for high school kids. If a team wants a guy, they trade for him. If he is under the radar a bit, they want to keep it that way.

If somebody wants a guy, they don't want anyone else to see him and want him and definitely don't want him getting hurt.

So let the showcase concept go the way of the trap game.
