...and a stack of pancakes!

It's not a contract year for Penner. He will need something to injure himself with.

- EKolb13

This is a contract year for Penner.

He only got a 1 year deal after winning the cup.

On a totally unrelated subject, I wanted an opinion from you guys. When we were at the game on Sunday, we kept getting dirty looks from an older (than me, anyway) gent and his very young (probably 5 or 6) year old granddaughter any time we might step out of...shall we say proper English? I say, it's an effing hockey game and you have to expect that kind of language in the stands, particularly since during the first period they were getting their a$$es handed to them.

What do you say, boys? Should we censor cause some people bring their kids to the game?

- fourfeathers

No, you should not be censored. Say whatever you want. Free speech yo.

Another option is to behave like an adult and respect the notion that there are others around you and there is a manner of speaking and subject matter that is not appropriate for every situation. Most people understand an outburst here or there but incessant f bombs and what not usually irritate most parents and rightfully so.

You're correct. For some reason, I thought he got a longer deal than one year.

This is kind of where it was. Not like we were throwing all kinds of swear words around.

I have to say though that I grew up watching hockey, and my dad always told us that we needed to realize that many adults come to hockey games to enjoy themselves without their kids--being able to act differently than when they are with their own kids. And that if we wanted to keep going to games, we would quickly learn what we should and shouldn't repeat. Especially in front of mom.

No question!! There is a time and a place for looking like a fool and sounding like one too...Not that I have been immune to looking like an ass at a sporting event! Better for people to think your one then open your mouth and prove it!!!

Watch it somewhat. By that I mean layoff the F-bombs. But its a different thing nowadays. Some people walk around looking to get offended.

When I was that young my Dad told me ahead of time what to expect at the old barn. But that was the 60's and hyper-sensitivity usually referenced how easily your gas pedal got that big block 409 or 427 to red line.

Something falling out occasionally is something different than a spew of profanity coming out of you mouth every other word. A slip or two I wouldn't mind, heck the kids have heard worse on the radio or tv.

I believe some here may be underestimating the absolute hatred the BH front office has for Neil Sheehy. Also, if Crow and Razor cannot bail out the D when they are playing bad (like the last 2 games) something will need to be done eventually. I would really hate to see Leddy go with the strides he has made since last year but this is a real possibility.

Knowing management believes they are close this year we may actually see Bowman be aggressive (for a change) approaching the deadline... whether this is a good or bad thing is hard to say.

Please stop the Pominville talk. He would bring nothing to this lineup.

Also, Bishop would not be an upgrade. Lehner yes!

Maybe a Leddy/Stalberg for Lehner/Z Smith? We have got to find someone who can win faceoffs other than Toews.

Also, I really cannot see why the Hawks think Krueger is untouchable. A lot of heart but if the right deal was there move him. Say Krueger for Visnovsky if Leddy goes?

I've been hearing that since the summer. Someone in Ryan Suter's camp basically used the Hawks to amp up offers form other bidders. They were PISSED.

Doesn't that happen often? Wasn't like there was any handshake agreement was there?

Besides didn't the rumor of Suter/Parise going together out there for some time? How'd the 'Hawks handle that? No way they'd afford both. Their current roster would have significant changes.

I sure hope the FO doesn't let something like this influence their thinking on Leddy. It should be clearly on the ice. Teams steering clear of players because of agents sure seems counterproductive.

Anybody get a chance to see Garrett Ross play this year?... looks like maybe another 5th round gem.

Ross has had an unbelievable season for Saginaw. He’s nearly doubled his offensive numbers from last season. In 59 games, Ross has posted 43 goals and 45 assists for 88 points. He’s also a plus-30 and has 112 penalty minutes.

In 60 games last season, Ross had 25 goals and 29 assists for 54 points, and was a plus-13. Obviously he’d be expected to improve on those stats in his overager season, with an increased role, but he’s done more than anyone expected.

At 6-1 and 185 pounds, Ross is a left winger in the same mold as Andrew Shaw. Ross turns 21 on May 26th.

The Blackhawks picked up Ross as a 20-year old in the 2012 Draft, selecting him in the 5th round with the 139th selection overall – the same exact pick Chicago used to draft Andrew Shaw (also 20 at the time) in the draft the year prior.

Saw him live in Mississauga....usually in the center of things, but his skating needs work. Didn't see great acceleration.

Agents are shady characters by nature. I'm sure most GM's know what they are dealing with when they enter into negotiations. Scott Boras is by all accounts a huge jerk, but people line up to do business w/him because he represents good talent. Check out Alan Walsh on twitter and you'll realize why agents are hated.

If Leddy's agent is asking for the moon, he goes before the deadline!!! And coupled with Stals, something really good should be coming back this way....

Yeah, I don't think I was very clear in my original post. We weren't screaming obscenities by any means, but were making comments directed towards specific players (get the lead out or the game started 10 minutes ago) and commenting on the lousy job done by the zebras, thus earning us the "look" from this guy.

Appreciate the comments though.

Doubt NYR move him. Their bottom 6 is so thin already. They are looking for more support in their bottom 6 themselves

Ross is also a 20 year old playing amongst mostly 17 - 18 year olds so he should stand out.

He didn't really stand out though. He was solid, usually around the puck, but not all that noticeable...to me at least.

Sounds like he'll be a prime candidate to join Rockford next season.
