What about Clowe ... Dreger says Sharks are fielding offers and I think he is a better fit in our top 6 than Hemsky.
- JasonHarrison

UFA so there is risk. I'd take the chance though.

fyi, that Washington deal, the neuvirth and alzner for gagner and second asset, that second assest would have to be your first this year or one of your untouchables. Alzner is considered untouchable by the caps, and neuvirth, while having a rough season so far, is still a top goaltending prospect.
- pbrsimps

ARe u retarded? Your trying to get eberle, hall, rnh, yakupov, or Shultz For alzner. Lay of the crack

considering he's a hit or miss, just daugavins for whitney, conditional pick based on if he hits it up for ottawa to the playoffs.
- deks1

i'd do daugavins and a conditional 4th.

daug would provide some sandpaper and energy in your bottom six.....plus the shootout.

I like how he says 'possibly' J.Scultz. Guess he hasnt watched Petry much. Liles can go (frank) his own ass he sucks.
- sanfordnson

Your defence is terrible...Oilers are 22nd in goals allowed per game, and last in shots allowed per game...
If you guys are content moving forward with what you have on D, have at it...but could definitely upgrade 2-3 of your guys...
And no, Ryan Whitney is NOT better than JM Liles...

We can give him the $$$ that Sharks can't ... Hall and Clowe on the left gives us our power wingers. Don't know if they'f have room for Hemmers contract though.

I dunno if a straight up deal works, but I'd give up Hemsky's skill for Clowe's size. It would mostly depend on the ability to re-sign him though.

Really?

Highest payroll in the league.

No cap space

15th or 16th in the league in scoring.

Currently out of the playoffs.

I would hate to be a Philly coach or Gm and miss the playoffs.

- oilcat

you do realize that in the deal you offered, philly would be taking on like 10 mil more in salary then they'd be giving up

On the crazy open market, I feel like Clowe could get 5 mil. O'Reilly's deal set a precedent for players of that ilk.

Clowe-Nuge-Eberle
Hall-Gagner-Yakupov

looks pretty sweet.
Or even put Ryan Jones on the 2nd line for more power and run Pajaarvi-Horcs-Yakupov as the 3rd line.

they will trade other players before they trade simmonds and coutrier for hemsky, gagner, and whitney. a fair trade to flyers fans maybe fedetenko, mezaros, and voracek.

i cant' see philly moving voracek, atleast not for those guys. that guy is finally coming into his own, and is probably their 2nd best forward, after giroux. plus he's signed to a really good deal, cap wise.

Do you see us needing to upgrade our depth defensemen? I don't.

We need top pairing or top 4 guys. Legit top 4 guys. Not slight upgrades, but defensemen that would be 20 minute players for any roster in the league.

And it's tough to judge Ryan Whitney's busted ankle against JM Liles' addled brain. It's a matter for doctors to decide who's better equipped to be playing in the NHL

i'm with you, i don't think liles is an upgrade over whitney.

the fact that the leafs are desperate for a PMD, and STILL liles is a healthy scratch almost every game, is very telling.

lol
i was also referring to klefbom as one of the supposed "untouchables". Of course alzner is not worth one of those players, although he isnt that far off on some of them based on their play this year.
I was more hinting at that the second asset couldn't be a 2nd round pick or a decent prospect. it would have to be something significant.

Alzner is pretty underrated imo

Seems like he's in a sharp decline though. A lot of smarter Sharks i'm aware of the on internet can't get rid of him quick enough.

Are you coming on to me? I'm sorry but I don't swing that way. I think you might be able to find a suitable life partner somewhere in these threads.

If that fails laughs' sister is always available, she's what we call a "Mormon" (more man than woman).

You seem to have quite a preoccupation with homosexuality. Usually a pretty good indicator of a classic closet homo. Constantly yet casually bringing it into almost every conversation, using homophobic comments as a means of deflecting any possible reason to provide an intellectual or intelligent response to someone else's comment, and almost obsessing about it while of course maintaining a constant personal distance from the subject as in explaining that is not the lifestyle for you but for someone else it's okay, so as not to let on to anyone that you do in fact enjoy men sexually, or at least the fantasy which will eventually turn to reality some day if it hasn't already. So good luck with that.

Good hockey talk poster though! Good stuff!

Alzner's great, and there's precisely one oilers fan on earth who thinks Klefbom is actually untouchable.

I dunno whether a team like Washington is looking to trade out young guys like Alzner and Neuvrith, even if they get younger with the trade. Plus, don't they have Backstrom, Laich, Ribeiro and Johansson? Tough to say where Gags would fit there.

Two guys I could see the Oilers targeting on the Caps (besides a goalie) would be John Erskine and Eric Fehr.

If it were a sign and trade at a reasonable rate, I'm sold. If it were a handshake agreement, I'd want a substantial conditional pick based on re-signing or not.

I don't want to botch a Hemsky trade after all this deliberating, but I don't think that we need another huge scorer as much as we need a physical prescence. That being said, trading out Hemmer and then paying his replacement the same amount to score 35 points would suck

So what's the hockey that you actually wanted to talk about? That the Oilers can't make any move unless it involves one of Hall, Nuge, Yak or Eberle?

State your point so we can hash out exactly what you're trying to say.
