Youre right. Im sure a pending UFA would fetch more. - sanfordnson
Likely. Cap space is as valuable as assets these days. Ill be shocked if teams are happy to keep Hemsky and his 5 or so million in a year where the Cap shrinks and there could be a lot of buyouts and UFAs to spend on. |

Jiri Tlustly- 9th over all in goals scored.......... - billyberg10
And 36th in points... lets not get carried away here. With Staal and Semin feeding him its not really surprising. Hell, Bozak is right behind him in points.

It's nice to play alongside E. Staal and Alex Semin, isn't it? |

These R.Clowe rumors are bizarre and dont make sense.
San Jose is not giving Clowe up if they plan on going deep in the playoffs (which they intend to)
Leafs arent going to pay up for a 30yr old rental with declining numbers who will be a UFA this summer.
This trade doesnt make sense for either side. |

UG is smiling somewhere right now. - sanfordnson
realistically there has to be a statute of limitations on players... how long did Tlusty get pretty good playing minutes before starting to produce.... this is the very reason guys like Martin St. Louis, or a Mike Kostka or a Jake Muzzin type player get buried in the minors or ignored... they weren't high draft picks primarily because they didn't have the luxury of playing for teams in visible locations or teams that won... which most people realize are not getting the publicity.
Tlusty never would have gotten enough playing time to contribute in Toronto....
nothing to get worked up about - when he was traded or let go - he held little or no value to the team.

exactly... Clowe wouldn't necessarily be a great fit in Toronto either, he's simply not quick enough to play higher up in the lineup. |

Apparently Lupul skated on Grabo's line. That looks to be the future. Give Grabo a big scoring winger and keep MacArthur on Kadri's line where their chemistry to clicking
JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Grabo Kulemin
MacA Kadri Frattin
Komarov McClement Orr/McLaren timeshare
Boner.
There won't be many moves unless we go for the big unexpected one. Just tweaks like Steckel and d-man being demoted or traded to fit Lupul and Gardiner. Nonis is already saying he has no interest in rentals. Bozak and MacArthur are already considered "rentals" so what's the point in acquiring new guys that don't know the team or system? |

He might be a trade deadline call up as it is going at the moment, until a trade happens, he staying put, I know Holzer is eligible to be sent down but after signing an extension and Carlyle liking him, can't see that happening now, but you never know.
Steckel is the one who will be put on waivers any day now. |

hemsky for Liles or Komisarek.
Hemsky doesn't fit in the Edmonton Top 6 going forward... and he'll never be a bottom 6 guy, injury prone. Hemsky could provide a scoring option... if he convince Carlyle he would play hard every night. Alternatively, Hemsky could be flipped to another club .... maybe a St.Louis, Boston, Carolina for another unpalatable contract...
Liles and Komisarek are scratches in Toronto and are obviously not part of the plan going forward in Toronto. Either of Liles or Komisarek could help the Oilers back-end to some degree, Liles more so in my opinion.

Why assume?
Might as well assume Hemsky will score 50 goals between now and the deadline.
Point is, if you guys love him so much and think so highly of him, and are willing to pay him next season, just keep him. Stop constantly trying to get rid of the guy. Don't get angry and bent that fans of other teams dont see anything special in him, dont want him on their team and cap books while Oiler fans want desperately every season to be rid of him.
Look, we understand and accept you guys don't want Hemsky. Just return the favour and accept that we don't either. |

I think the problem is Carlyle likes their d-man playing their proper side. He likes Holzer as a right handed shutdown guy with Phaneuf but he has had some struggles shutting down elite NHL players after playing in the AHL all season. You could see Kostka was starting to struggle before being moved onto Liles/Gunnarsson's side.
In hinesight, Gardiner should be in Gunnarsson or Fraser's spot but they're playing too well to allow that to happen and both would have to be traded or waived to for Gardiner to get that spot. I don't think Carlyle wants Phaneuf playing the right side anymore. |

Hemsky doesn't fit into our top 6 either. In fact he fits better in Edmontons top 6 than Toronto's.
No need to trade buyout candidates.
Liles, Komi and Hemsky are not part of this teams future. |
