Does this need explaining? You're asking for 3 young stars in return for what amounts to be a soup can. Taking on a few mil in cap space doesn't validate getting any one of those players, let alone 3.

It meets Edmonton's needs, and the only thing it could possibly offer to Philadelphia is cap relief. And not really that much cap relief, as most of the players they get back are not nearly as good value as the guys they're sending out.

It helps Edmonton tremendously, but I don't think it helps Philly at all. If that trade went through, and I was a league official, I would suspect it was collusion.

Do you not consider the role that schenn and jeff shultz play to be simular? One has better leadership qualities. Hemsky is on most teams a top line player and his playmaking abilities with gireux could be dangerous for opposing teams. And as far as braydon schenn with ghe depth down the middle and the fact your ridding ilya contract thats not far off. As far as bein a soup can your clearly mistaken. With the current cap situation in philly they need some room and no ones gonna touch briere or ilya unless deals like this can happen

1. Why would Edmonton want anything to do with Bryz or his horrid contract?
2. Both Schenns and Simmonds are basically part of Philly's untouchable group. You think youre getting them with Hemsky and Belanger going back the other way?
3. Philly needs Defense. Not goaltending or forwards. Nich Schultz is not their answer

I think hemsky be a great pick up in philly. We need more veterine leadership but this trade hurts that front but were gaining size

It's just not worth it for them. It's akin to dumping Horcoff at the expense of giving up Justin Schultz

Horcoffs leadership is what pulled this team together. He's a good captain and if we could take 5 mil off that contract we would be golden

Even if Holmgren was blitzkrieged on the perfect amount glue to go for that, you'd have 29 other teams lined up in a sneeze to take that offer to pound town. I'm sure the leafs would throw JVR back real fast if it meant simmonds and both schenns. They'd take every bad contract in the NHL for that package.
