I think he can thank his scouts for those two.

Signing Budaj is hardly noteworthy.

The way the Cammalleri trade was handled was shameful.

He had to keep Price and getting Eller was part of the same decision.

I'll give him Markov and Emelin.

- hon_hon_hon

1. They're HIS scouts, so he gets some credit.
2. Signing Budaj IS noteworthy, because everyone complains about Budaj, but he's served as a very capable backup.
3. Agreed, but in the end it may work out.
4. He didn't HAVE to keep Price. At the time, it was clear that Halak was playing with more confidence and was playing better.

i think we're all happy to have MB in his stead, but Gauthier is responsible for the following:

keeping Price over Halak
acquiring Eller
drafting Gallagher
re-signing Markov when everyone thought they should let him walk
swapping Bourque for Cammalleri (him and Therrien? never would have worked)
signing Diaz from the scrap heap
signing a capable backup who is 4-2 with a shutout
got Emelin over from Russia

i don't think his tenure was the disaster (personnel-wise) everyone makes it out to be. he made some awful moves but like it or not, his fingerprints are on this team.

Exactly what I was thinking

As much as we like to hate Mr Gauthier, we can't deny that this team is almost indentical to last year's

Also, the gamble was that Price's ceiling was higher than Halak's, and that Halak had reached his plateau.

Yeah.

And as bad as the Cammalleri trade was handled, pretty much everyone in here were surprised he were able to pull that off (until we saw Bourque play)... Probably because we had zero expectation.

Hey, Halak has been great for the Blues. I'd still rather have Price AND Eller.

Habs are doing great, the Ryder trade helped a lot. I doubt we will win our division, but we should be a playoff team this year.

Calgary's management is pretty much the worst in the league. Jay Feaster is garbage.

Now you are just talking out of your ass. We had no idea if Halak had reached his plateau, and yes, after the playoffs run, there was room for hesitation for which goalie they should go with in the long run.

Nothing personnal.
