True...but some RFA have different strategies...shorter contracts to become UFAs sooner...

I think the fact that he's come from ECHL and worked his way up makes him less greedy and he just wanted the stability and to remain a hab...which factored into his decision to accept a bit less money and a year or two more.

Teams need to retain their assets, and 3.5mil for 4 years is not bad. It is very tradeable if they want to move him later on.

As a leaf fan you should be happy about the contract, as now hopefully Bozak won't get 6.5 mil.

Not sure were keeping Bozak. Unless we move Grabovski in the offseason. Kadri has to sign too and that's alot of money tied up in 2b centremen.

Kadri will be out 1st or 2nd line centre come next year. He's basically our 2nd now.

We have him centering Lupul and Kulemin in practice today.

Leafs are a whole different animal right now. Nonis has some tight calls to make over the next 12 months

One angle that hasn't been discussed (or if it was, I didn't see)...anyone think that DD would've gotten more on the open market?

I actually think that (if he kept on this pace for the year) and was to hit the market he'd command more...so I actually like that he was willing to take (a little) less to stay in MTL (unlike Komisarek who left for $500k...although we are now quite happy that he did...).
