I didn't mean the french part to be disrespectful it was an honest question. He seems like the lone french golden boy of the team.

I understand that but the term seems a little risky. Bergevin has pretty much stated that he's the 2nd line centre of the future of this team.

I think Eller has huge potential, you guys don't seem to want to give him a chance. Now, he's once again haulted to become a 3rd line checker for you guys. Then I get Galchenyuk beginning his career as an 18 year old as a winger but he's a gem, he'll your 1st line franchise centre. Can't see you guys moving Plekanec.

Just confusing that's all. Other GM's haven't been into acquiring 'term contracts' lately so he'll be around for at least another 2 or 3 years.

Eller's killing penalties, playing on the PP and taking shootout attempts. You want him to play in nets too?

if he's going to put up 55-60 points/year, that's a decent contract. - Scotch_tape

That's just because of the minutes he's getting and the situation he's in. I think there's alot of centres that could get 15 goals 40 assists playing with Pacioretty every night.

Eller averages 14:32 a game....Wow, he's a workhorse!

Then there's Galchenyuk who has 3g, 13 points and a +8 playing 12:35 a night. How long is he gonna play wing.

I'll stop bothering you guys about it, just wanted to hear what you have to say. You watch the Habs more than I do. I only see them if they play the Leafs or the odd national game on TSN.

Doesn't Therrien just go with who's hot for the PP?!?

I've seen him out there a few times...seems like he goes with the hot hand or better rested C...

I really like the makeup of this team...and Eller's been a real nice surprise this year...

Well, 14:32 is up from last year, so the coach is showing confidence in Eller and he is earning the time. It will go up if keeps his play up.

Teams need to retain their assets, and 3.5mil for 4 years is not bad. It is very tradeable if they want to move him later on.

As a leaf fan you should be happy about the contract, as now hopefully Bozak won't get 6.5 mil.

And hopefully this puts an end to people thinking the habs have so much capspace to sign all the UFAs this year.

One angle that hasn't been discussed (or if it was, I didn't see)...anyone think that DD would've gotten more on the open market?

I actually think that (if he kept on this pace for the year) and was to hit the market he'd command more...so I actually like that he was willing to take (a little) less to stay in MTL (unlike Komisarek who left for $500k...although we are now quite happy that he did...).

What`s with Engels non-blogging?

I can kind of picture him sitting in his lazy-boy in the basement in his 3 day old stained tighty whiteys, eating a whole package of Kraft Singles.

True...but some RFA have different strategies...shorter contracts to become UFAs sooner...

I think the fact that he's come from ECHL and worked his way up makes him less greedy and he just wanted the stability and to remain a hab...which factored into his decision to accept a bit less money and a year or two more.
