Why is the Halak thing even brought up when discussing the Goat?

It was Gagne's decision.

Why does Bourque not "SUCK" in this case?
- Oilhab

Cole was clearly better than Bourque last year. This year Bourque is healthy and has played well. Cole is clearly out of shape and has sucked badly this year. Obviously Cole could turn on the machine again next year, but at his age and with his contractual situation i doubt he will.

i think we're all happy to have MB in his stead, but Gauthier is responsible for the following:

keeping Price over Halak
acquiring Eller
drafting Gallagher
re-signing Markov when everyone thought they should let him walk
swapping Bourque for Cammalleri (him and Therrien? never would have worked)
signing Diaz from the scrap heap
signing a capable backup who is 4-2 with a shutout
got Emelin over from Russia

i don't think his tenure was the disaster (personnel-wise) everyone makes it out to be. he made some awful moves but like it or not, his fingerprints are on this team.

- DoubleDown

He did some good moves, but he had a tendency to throw away pics for rental players he didn't kept around which hurts this team's farm system at them moment. Also, some moves last season were odd, the firing of Perry Pearn before a game, Cammalleri being traded during a game, or the appointment of Randy Cunneyworth as interim head coach.

Very good trade.
Honestly, the only negative thing we could say about MB is that Kaberle is still around. Beside that, hirings, signings, trades, moves... it's a no fault.

He can't do anything about Kaberle yet. At least Therien is sitting him.

no doubt the man was a douche bag, but he manage to stockpile some draft picks, especially going into this upcoming draft.

He was playing very well with Plekanec, but Ryder seems to complete him even better so far.

I didn't realize we were confining this to the first 20 games only. If that's the case, then I will have to retract my Ryder point.
As for Gallagher, I realize he has been in the organization since he was drafted. I'm not praising MB for making him what he is today. The point is, if Gauthier was around, Gallagher, and more than likely Galchenyuk, would not be on this team. You can hold whatever value you want in that point, but Gauthier's style was very evident, and wouldn't lend itself to taking such chances.

- hscesq

I never denied this ... that's why when you responded by a "no" to my original statement I clarified by saying the personel is almost identical, the way MB handles his personel is far better

Above the points, it's the way they play/skate. Ryder is playing for contract while Cole is out of shape and doesn't give a flying fak.
