This isn't going to be another Toronto vs. Vancouver thread. Please leave.

I don't care how many Cups you have, or how great your prospects are...

ahhh... Scooby got a bone up his a__?

this isn't any attempt at TOronto vs Vancouver. I was merely pointing out how badly f__d up the Canucks CAP situation is going foward... and how that seems to have been missed by your esteemed GM and the VAST MAJORITY of the Canuckleheads who were peddling Luongo last summer / fall.

it should be pretty obvious that same group now

1) how much leverage Mr Gillis has around the goaltending situation - because he now has clear evidence who is number 1 is "after strategically waiting" half the shortened season to clarify his goaltending situation... very clear to everyone

2) signing Garrison was a master-stroke - adding him to his stable of overpriced mid-range 4M+ defensemen...

3) if Gillis was offered (and I seriously doubt he was) Bozak and Kadri in a package for Luongo and didn't take... the fan base should seriously be hunting the guy down... but of course they won't 'cause they never get demonstrably upset about anything.... oh wait..

Vancouver is a port city... you guys should be familiar with the expression - "that ship has sailed".

Scooby... really... telling someone to get out of a Canuck forum... you should be glad for the visitation.

Schreoder down ebbett up. The merry go round has begun. Haven't they figured out Ebbett can't hack it yet. Give someone else. Not like it matters AV wouldn't play them anyways. They aren't the sedins or kesler. Lappy is also not a 3rd line center hes a 4th.

I don't know about the rest of the canuck fans but its tough to watch the game these days. They don't try for more then 10 minutes a game. Not only do we need a new coach we need some new players on the roster.

Why the Lindy Ruff obsession?!? Typical big-name-itis... I hate that.

He reminds me of AV... Doesn't adjust his system to his players, always had elite goaltending to bail him out (Hasek/Miller), and harder to get rid of than a (frank)ing cockroach.

- DrChristianTroy

John Cooper from TB's AHL team(Norfolk), I'd take him over Ruff and even Eakins. And the Malhotra suggestion are just hilarious to me, the guy hasn't even coached a professional team for one day of his life yet. Might as well hire my Grandmother to be the fitness coach.

I think I will take Gillis and Gillman's opinion on the cap situation over some random Leafs fan on hockeybuzz.

Too bad the league couldn't fit the Preds and Coyotes in there.

I'm not sure the space is there. To sign Perry you will need to move 1-2 bigtime players and how attractive is Vancouver then?

Plus I'm not sure Perry like the Canucks much.

- IanEsplen

Don't you think Perry will likely be traded if Anaheim feels that they won't be able to sign him? After the Suter and Parise deals, I'm guessing he'll likely want to test the FA market, and it's a no brainer that he'll be getting a max contract where ever he ends up.

Doesn't matter, he sucks! Who cares if he hadn't played in like a year, he should have been in mid season form and there's no room on this team for players that get injured. Plus everyone knows that other team's players and coaches are always better than the Canucks.

I don't understand why any team would trade players for Perry knowing he will test the free agency market in July and.

Like Suter and Parise HE WILL chose a Team he wants to play for.
The Ducks need to sign him NOW and if money is an issue next year trade him with the contract

Tell me about it, we'll have to be patient with the process to even get to the rebuilding process, first a couple of years of Calgary Flames 8-10th place finishes then hopefully they can start the Edmonton Oilers 3-5 year rebuild with lottery picks and be competitive about 10 years from now.

Well, if it's any consolation, Ballard's 4.2 will be bought out.

That gives you 8 million with Malhotra,Raymond,Higgins,Lapierre,Alberts UFA's and Schroeder,Tanev,Weise and Sestito RFA's.

So you have 7 forwards, 4 d-men and your 9.33 million dollar tandem signed with 8 million in capspace.

Yeah....

There's no way that Luongo and Schneider will both be on the team next season. If Luongo can't be moved then Gillis has no choice but to move Schneider and who knows how much salary and what pieces they'll get in return with a goalie trade so it's hard to speculate about the Canucks off-season cap position with that big unknown factor. I do agree with you that cap space will be tight either way, but who knows how much flexibility they'll have at this point.

Yeah, but what it comes down to as well is Gillis has to get off his high horse and accept a deal for Luongo. The situation isn't getting any better with the Burrows extension and all the expired contracts.

I would of taken the first offer I got and ran to the hills with it. Now your (frank)ed even more come this off-season.

Even if you took back a poopty player contract. It's still a player. Unless there was never one offer to begin with. But I'm sure there was.

Why the hell do people keep saying buyout Ballard? The guy when used as he should be has been one of the bright spots this year. AV has given Keith the reputation of being buyout worthy

Well, it's really all just speculation, maybe Gillis wanted that trade and Burke turned it down or the trade was agreed to and Luongo turned it down(but both he, his agent and Gillis deny this). If Gillis did turn it down and Luongo was willing to go to Toronto then obviously it loos like bad management right now, but at that time Kadri didn't look like he was maximizing his potential and Bozak looked like a 3rd line center for this team(plus they had Henrik, Kesler, Malhotra, Lapierre and plus Schroeder at that point and Bozak wasn't considered to be a big upgrade). Hindsight is 20/20.

Plus Gilman, the assistant GM is supposed to be a wizard with CBA loopholes and cap management so I'm guessing MG runs most of his moves by him so you have to figure that they're prepared to move either goalie and work with their limited cap space.
