This was an obsolutely brutal deal that was a once and a perfect fit in NSH pov. I think Gio gets you a first, I just hate when people say well this happened so why not again?
It's like the whore that sleep with you on Friday night that was way out of your league, doesn't mean you should expect the same Saturday. - Lahey
I agree, but wasn't there someone else (not so good) who also went for a first last year? |

Gio gets us 1st (And for those who think that Gio won't get us a first, Gaustad says high.)
Kipper gets us a 1st & a 2nd.
Iginla gets us a 1st and a very good prospect.
Also any of Sarich, Smith, Babchuk for 4th or 5th rounders.
Then hopefully you can pakage some of the 1st rounders and hopefully we will have 2 picks in the top 5. If Calgary trades all these guys they will for sure have at least one pick in the top 5. - whipper334
I hope......I think come deadline day the Flames will be looking to unload these boys. They are all good 6-7 d-men though. Valuable assets for a deep run |

I just don't know how much more you get in that case, because he's a young player that has shown he can play. I do suspect there would be more, just not sure you get the 1st or good prospect too. - Lahey
Probably right. |

Ya I would say Iggy for Stepan and Kreider.
That's quite the chain reaction....would be very interesting though. An Iggy-Richards-Nash line would be sick. - The-O-G
Not getting both Stepan and Kreider. They wouldn't give him up for Nash, so I doubt Kreider is gone for Iggy.
I could see Mcilrath instead. |

Agreed, they overpayed for gaustad. But still Gio gets you a first especially with a solid contract value. Perfect player for Pitt - The-O-G
Don't be a tool. That should say Edmonton. |

True....could chip off Iggy and Sarich, or iggy and a third etc. I would try and get both somehow anyway, but you're right, would probably need something more. |

Sure, in this case it worked, but I've heard will Gaustad went for a 1st so why not our random 3rd liner. The market changes year to year, some guys could go for a 1st this year but next year a 1st plus.

Not sure, just struggling out there. Seems like he's trying to do too much IMO. He's a warrior though. I think he would be unreal in the playoffs. |

True! I think the best case scenario is you create a bidding war between Bos. Pit & NYR. You have to know that none of those teams would want Iggy on one of the other two. |

I could really see Chicago or LA creeping in there too though. I know its in the west but if the Flames aren't a factor come deadline day I could see a deal to a western team. |

The thing is, you go into a bidding war you better hope you have a chance at a re-sign. I don't think Boston or Pittsburgh do. It might be better to let them get Iggy just to see them lose assets going forwad. |

Just spit balling, but how about SJ as one last all in? Although I don't know that they have the assets to make that move. Who else would give it a one last all in before drastic changes? |

Why the hell would Gio need to be traded? He is a guy you hang onto for a rebuild. |

Yeah I mean it's not really close IMO either. But GIO is a good player, could help 29 other teams a LOT. |

What about Iggy for Bobby Ryan???
Anyone???
Would be super interesting. |
|
|

I'm almost certain we'll end up doing a deal with PIT. Whether it's Iggy, Jbo or Gio or someone else, not sure.
What I would love:
Iggy, Sarich to BOS for: Hamilton, 1st, conditional 1st for a resign on Iggy
Cammi to ANA for: Holland, 1st
Or
Tangs, Butler, Stajan, Byron/salary retention/salarydump return, Feaster's wife and 1st child + whatever else to St. Lou for: Berglund 1st (more likely after the season in they fall on theur face)
Jbo or Gio to PHI for: Despres, Morrow, 2nd
or
Jbo or Gio to DET for: Smith, Jarnkrok, 2nd
I think we need to keep Tangs(preferred unless we get something similar to my suggestion: big young centerman) or Cammi as well as GlenX and Hudler as vet wingers.
Their has to be room made for Baertschi as a top 6 LW for next year. That leaves us a lot of possibilities. |

I can't see it. We would have to give more for sure. Although, regardless of Perry's thoughts on signing or not, I can't see ANA wasting this opportunity. Perry will likely walk; maybe they trade rights at the draft or prior to for some picks. Thats why I suggest Cammi to ANA. He helps a PO run this year and covers a top 6 wing next year if Perry walks. |

Bringing in Cammy would only limit their ability to sign Perry though.
Trade Iggy for Ryan, increase your chance at a cup, let Iggy walk, get $$$ to sign Perry. |

Unless they already know that Perry wants to go elsewhere. It is quite likely come deadline time. |
