Don't you guys worry about having a fresh goalie against the Avs, they make those look like superstars. They gave Fasth and Griess shutouts this season and they've been aching for another shot at giving a goalie his first NHL win/shutout.

Oilers have a habit of making plugs and rookies look like first liners. They are real slump busters.

I don't think Horcoff will be bought out this summer. He's played well enough for us this year. Jeez man he scored today and played a decent game, you don't buy him out because he's doing that. He's a better center and thrid liner for the oilers then brandon right now. otherwise good blog agree with everything else. Dubnyk tried another bone head move tonight charging 40 feet out of his net to play a puck against one of the best players in the game he's gotta go. We'll need a fix at net right now though as danis isn't a NHL goalie as proven by his last two games damnation we nearly lost that game because he can't handle the pace. Good game though .
PS i understand what krugers doing with Yakupov even if you don't... He's easing him into the NHL. There isn't any rush for him to be a top six player this year and for that reason hemsky is safe for now. Yaks can take his time to develope and learn while not having to play the other teams top lines. If he makes mistakes (whitch he does) he's making them against players who won't burn him for it as often as a top line would. Nice and easy does it, next year he can rip it up this year we just want him to learn and grow confident.

I dont have a problem with yaks minutes. Hes ineffective far more than he is dynamic.

Im not worried. Hes gonna be a good nhl'er. but hes struggling abit right now with the pro game. (And still has 12 pts in 24 games, Which is entirely reasonable. I dont care about ROY, i care about long term)

We finally have a small amount of depth to shelter our kids abit. I see no problem with doing it. Its not like hall or ebs were destroying their rookie years either.( in fact, ebs struggled mightily alot of nights, and if someone told me he'd have hit 76 the next year, id have doubted it hugely)

He should be getting soft pp minutes and low 5 on 5 mins imo

I still thought that Yaks was playing well with Gags and MPS yesterday...they were dynamic enough to play for 2 goals in that first period. Then he was pulled off to the 4th and replaced with Petrell?? Shelter him or not that move made me scratch my skull in confusion.

Great entertainment. But Chicago had even worse goaltending than the Oilers.

Watched Chicago's previous game against Colorado. The Avs ripped them pretty good and Hawk goaltending was deplorable.

If Hawks hope to do anything in playoffs, they better get help in goal.

Agreed.

Whats worse is I don't know what the immediate solution is...

Duby may be good in time... but we need that pillar of stability right now. (I know i'm stating the obvious).

This team should be an offensive juggernaut. It seems a stretch to suggest that our team defense has improved... it's just sometimes I wonder what it could be like; what it would be like if our kids didn't have to "worry" about playing a "riskier" offensive game. You know... playing to our strengths.

Unfortunately we don't have that luxury.

I think we need to improve our defense and improve our defensive play 5 on 5 in our own end before we even consider a goalie change. Our team as a whole lets way too many shots on net and I find our ability to take the puck and control the play in our own end 5 on 5 isn't very good.
Someone a bit ago mentioned getting an elite goalie and mentioned Millers name. I do agree Miller is an elite goalie and would love to have him on our team but I don't think he would change anything. Look at his stats, he has the most shots on net and until last nights game Duby had a better GAA and Sv%.
Yes, Miller might help us out a bit but until we fix our defense and defensive play we aren't going to see much of an improvement.

no to miller, yes to acquiring a top six power forward and top 2 d-man, then look at goaltending. if acquiring a guy putting up similiar numbers to dubnyk without costing arm and leg, then it's worth looking at.

in all seriousness though, it would take more than whitney (an overpaid, underperforming, and often injured UFA) and anaheim's 2nd (which is almost surely going to be very late in the round) to get bishop.

I honestly can't see edm and ott being good partners for a trade. you don't have anything (that you'd be willing to move) that i could see murray being all that interested in. unless you were willing to make smid available in a bishop deal (and please dont' say bishop and a 1st for smid), i can't see these two teams getting anything done

Spinbaz talked about how good Hossa is in the Hawks thread, which I agree. But (frank) is that guy a diver/faker. Not just against us, a few times now he pretends to be hurt just to draw a penalty or to avoid one.

you mean Horcs? notice our record without him around?

None of what you proposed will happen and poutine is crap.

haha i was kinda drunk when i posted.. ma bergeron would be bad, but not over the top bad. hes 32 and is great on the pp but agreed theres a few others id rather have.

i know none of it would happen, but its fun to play gm for 10 secs and propose something other than tradin the future core of the oil. i think its time to trade picks and a few vets to bring in some insulation. edm #1 could be a very nice comodity.

also poutiine is the best. made one the other night with a few buddies. we had lobster and shrimp pizza hand made, with a chorrizo sausage potuine. hand cut fries and turnip fries, chozziro, hotsauce and we made a lobster gravy with the shells. come to think of it pretty much everything but the politics in mtl/qc is the best. even our hockey team

I xansee that. gallagher is 20 playing lughts out only because hes really insulated.

maybe its time (should the oil keep to the cellar) to get rid of picks find said insulation

gags and propect to ott for bishop and neal

edm #1 and hemsky to tampa for lecavalier m.a bergeron and their 1st or 2nd ( really would have to depend where edm sit compared to tampa. but I think lecavalier would be a great fit in edm)

edm#2 and a mid lvl propect to dallas for jagr

edm #3 and a mid lvl prospect to mtl for nokalainen

harti and tampas 1st and whitney to pitts for despres and their #1

pitts #1 to T.dot for liles and their 2nd
if all those pieces fell into place ina perfect world. edm I think could make a splash. love to dream
