Or you quit trying to force him to play as a winger. Put him where he can succeed. He has excelled as a center and struggled as a winger through the course of his time in Philly. Lavi still insists on playing him on the wing. Not putting a player in a position to succeed is on the coach.

problem is he played center last year and struggled too.

Did you see that flip and flight into the boards Crosby took vs the Leafs? Wow!

See, now that's a different approach to the debate, and one I'd have a hard time arguing against.

That's kind of been my whole point all along. I just don't feel he's going to change enough to fix the issues.

It's never been him alone and it's not him now. There's other issues afoot.

My 2 cents...

On the out (however possible by next season):
Lavy - fired
Briere, Meszaros, Gervais - traded
Bryzgalov - buyout
Leighton, Boucher, Fedotenko, Knuble, Foster, Lilja, Walker - traded or gone via UFA

Giroux, Voracek, Hartnell, Simmonds, Schenn x2, Read, Couturier, Rinaldo, Gagne, Talbot, Coburn, Timonen, Grossmann, Gus, McGinn remain.

That leaves us needing a 3rd line winger, starting and back-up goalie, and #1-2 d-man. Can it be done?

Yup, I could have just missed it or not understood your point fully. That's why I prefer these discussions happen in person with a few tasty brews and some snacks.

I like it. The fafa goalie market is not all that bad. Something needs to change. Yesterdays game was a disgrace. It was like they gave up and stopped playing. That bothers me three most, if the tune out and look like they don't care, you have a big problem

The thing that perturbs me is that the flyers stopped trying yesterday. If the flyers are getting their assess kicked and they were still trying id have np with the team, the lack of effort is

Got to ask ... who is going to trade for Briere with the way he is playing and that awful cap hit? I could see Philly using both of its buyouts - Briere and Bryzgalov.

i think the idea would be a team like the blues...good team lotta cap space (briere isn't actually owed a lot of money). but it's certainly no guarantee that anyone would take him. or even that he'd be willing to leave. one way or the other though, he can't be on the team next year

bryz is a much more complicated issue....

It wouldn't be surprising if they did. That said, given Briere's playoff performances in the past, it's hard to say there's no market for him.

Plus, other teams have compliance buyouts they can use if the cap hit is an issue long term, and the actual cash owed to Briere after this season is $5mm over 2 years-or less than his cap hit for one year, so a buyout isn't crippling, in terms of actual dollars.

I'm with ya, what the heck then was the point of bringing up Leighton?? Does Lavy just like hanging out with him??

My guess is that the Flyers are so uptight right now, that they will play ok, but blow the game late and lose in regulation 3-2. Lavy gets canned and replaced by Terry Murray tomorrow. My only fear is that Snyder pushes Holmgren into making a trade that they will later regret.

Bryzgalov or Leighton. It's not that tough of a choice is it? Bryz is better than Leighton.

just for the record, i rarely if ever wish death on someone and especially not for their athletic performance. Its only if they cause the death of a human being or brutally beat animals to death after they fail to perform in a fight against others when trained by way of mauling other members of their species.

true but the question is: Whether or not Bryzgalov needs a break to charge the batteries.
