The ducks are buyers.... but they are going to trade Perry... but only if the return is gigantic... but he's ufa at the end of the season
Think about what you write before you put it down. There is going to be no return for Perry other than draft picks, see: the last 20 years of trades in the NHL
An elite player with no contract is worth a phil kessel return at most(and I don't think any GM would even offer that much)
No serious team is going to give up signed assets for a rental.
Perry leaves for nothing. Its your best shot at a cup for the next decade. Be happy with it

I don't think he will get re-signed by the Ducks. I don't see him being moved for prospects and picks because the Ducks are a contender for the Stanley Cup this year. - Thehabsfan93
unless they sign and trade or he agrees to a contract with the team he's traded to he isn't worth a whole lot. |

Getzlaf & Perry make up one of the best 1-2 punches in the league. Having said that from Perry's voice, it appears that Perry will not be a duck for much longer. At this point investing $ 16-17M in a $64.3M cap is tough. The penguins (Crosby, Malkin) will be able to do it for so long. Letang is highly underpaid and will see big money soon. |

Find the last time a rental brought back anything but futures let alone a star player in return. |

Im don't even want to suggest it because Im aware it will get laughed out but honestly Grabovski is a real nice fit in Anaheim.
Contract is a tad high but if he wasn't forced into a shutdown role this season wouldn't seem nearly as bad. If anything it highlights his exceptional versatility.
If I were Anaheim myself I would keep Perry and actually buy at the deadline and go for one more big run before Selanne retires (Koivu shortly thereafter). Take the risk of re-signing in the off-season. Worst case scenario you deal his rights before FA. Might bring back a second. Tough loss but what if it brings a Cup??
If the trade route is deemed preferential probably not a popular move here but I think a great deal for both sides.
Mikhail Grabovski, Cody Franson and a conditional 1st for Corey Perry.
A good long term second line center to slot behind Getzlaf, a positon of weakness for the Ducks. A touch overpaid but if he was an FA this season would likely be the best available center.
Franson a good top 4 defenseman with a cannon of a shot just entering his prime and RFA. Excellent replacement for Toni Lydman and gives another booming shot to complement Souray.
The first conditional on Perry re-signing in Toronto. Hell everyone loves Torontos firsts and people think the collapse is still coming so it's definitely intriguing.
Tough losing Perry but rather than a traditional futures package, a package that helps a Cup run now and for the long term. You don't re-sign Getzlaf and ice a veteran team to rebuild. Complements perfectly the strong prospect depth Anaheim has on the wings.
No chance Anaheim takes back any player who will be UFA either this season or next. So no Kessel or Bozak, makes no sense.

the more I read about Perry, the less I think Ottawa should be interested .... no way he's worth $8-9M. That contract would cripple Ottawa once their prospects start looking for their second and third contracts.
These mega-deals always work out poorly for whomever signs the player. hope Murray looks at that history, and not just his history in drafting Perry in the first place.
Now, if he would sign here for $7M, maybe ... he sure would look sweet along side Spezza.... |

Im guessing to get Perry it will take a top 6 forward, a blue chip prospect and conditional draft picks (if Perry resigns) from an Eastern Conference team |

Umm 1- we get 10.5 mil in cap space when alfy, gonchar and latendress come of the books,Lehtner, cowen, and 9mm are the only one's who are gonna be getting more then they are now and this isnt until 2014 3 - we will have a projected cap of 49 million this summer, so why can't we get perry again ? |

Lmao Mikhail Grabovski? The guy who is only making 5.4 mill as a second line centre not even close to worth it who would want a guy that is making more then people like Kesler,Bergeron, ect and hasn't really proven a thing if the leafs want perry I'd say dion and kadri to start |

Didnt you throw Zach Smith into a deal? Anaheim doesn't need wingers they need centers. Toronto could match any deal Ottawa could and some. Who else could do a top 6 blue chip and 1st with cap space?
Nazem Kadri, Morgan Reilly and a 1st good luck topping that Sens even though I wouldnt pay that for Perry espcially a rental. |

Also say Koivy (38 years old) retires this offseason that leaves Peter Holland as their number 2 center leaving the only 3 centers available Weiss, Roy or Bozak assuming they're even available. |

Smith had close to the same amount of points last year as Mikhail Grabovski and he is making 1.8 mill a year ! And kadri is just starting to prove him self and Reilly hasn't done a thing typical leaf fan over evaluating there guys silverburg is miles ahead of kadri and ur top six minus kadri and kessel are garbage and over paid so give it a rest only reason u guys r gonna make the playoff is because of how bad the eastern conference is |
