Ya lets move our best D-man and plus the cap wouldn't allow it anyway... - Crazycaboose
Yeah he may be our best dman but he's not a very good one. He gets caught in the offensive zone deep all the time, he's soft and more offensive minded than anything else. Garrison WAS our best Dman, very reliable and had a great shot. It's too bad Tallon didn't see him as part of the "PLAN"

Come on- be fair now. You seem to analyze the game so check the important numbers: his minutes per game are off the chart, it is a compacted schedule which amplifies those heavy minutes, he has had a variety of partners who all play the game differently, and has recently been paired with Strachan- who has really showed in a bigger role this season that he is not an NHL caliber defenseman. Tack on piss-poor goaltending, and pretty pedestrian backchecking forwards and well, its a team sport but I don't think Soupy should be taking this level of blame. |

Is it just me or does Markstrom seem like he doesn't belong in the NHL. This stage (even though it's in Florida) may be too big for him.
3 goals on 8 shots tonight.
3 out of the last 4 games he let the first shot of the game in.
He's a mess. |

Our defense is awful. 3 AHLers with Strachan, Robak, and Yonkman. Kuba we all know has been flat out awful. Campbell is below average on the defensive side. Bad situation, doesn’t help Marky. - Crazycaboose
They were so bad that they gave up 13 shots over 60 minutes. Give me a break kid. |

Rheault is 27 years old, he's no kid, the guy was drafted in 06 and his only 3 games in the NHL came this season because the Panthers have no depth thanks to the injuries to the guys on the big club and on the Rampage.
I'm usually negative but to be honest I'm getting sick of myself being that way. All I want is a winner here, a team that can reck havoc in the NHL for years to come and it should be that time and it's not. That's why I'm so bitter towards this organization. They've had so many chances to build a winner and they keep on failing.
The positive is that Huberdeau looks to be the real deal. I love this kid. I love Shore even more < rhymed!
I'm more upset at the fact that the rest of the season is really unwatchable. Other than Huby and Shore what else is there to look forward to? Markstrom is in the dog house, he seems out of it and is never focused. Word has cycled around the league to shoot high on this kid, he drops to his knees on every shot. He's going to continue to get lit up until he adjusts to the NHL. It's a learning curve and I'm willing to be patient with the kid because he's a freak, just needs to be more poised.
Trade Deadline:
Sadly we will be sellers but not to a great extent. We should be buyers but with the injuries and being dead last in the NHL it makes no sense.
Matthias has increased his trade value over the past 5 games, he's the obvious assumption that he's one of maybe a handful of guys from this team that will be dealt. Kopecky and Skille are the other two that could be dealt. I like Skille's effort every night but he can't finish. He has the legs but no skill in his hands. It's been fun Matthias but there's a team out there that will love your intensity and would love to add you to their 3rd or 4th energy line. Goodluck in the playoffs, you deserve it. - BallardHitsHard22
Best guess on the Matthias asking price? |

Great question. I think it is impossible to say without knowing who is doing the "shopping." Matty is playing well and is a great energy player who can play center or wing, is big and strong, and does have some moves and a bit of finish to his game. He is still young and will be an RFA so he need not be just a rental. All that said I think a 2nd and later round pick, say a 2nd and 4th or 5th? I would also say that it could be a 2nd if the trading partner were to also take a bad contract off the Panthers' hands, like a Santorelli or Kuba. Personally, I think Matty is more valuable to us than what we can get for him so I'd think he's a keeper. |

Makes sense from Florida's perspective. I was curious because if I'm Pittsburgh, he's someone I'm calling about as we need to improve our bottom-6 and get significantly tougher. |
