Not a personal attack, but there are some on here that believe effort is not an issue with this team.

Its one of the biggest one's in my eyes, followed by stupidity.

- flyer_nutter

It's both effort and coaching. They don't believe in lavy, and yes yesterday was a piss poor effort. Anytime your up 4-1 and then loose is piss poor

But look at those things.
Sure, you would expect more goals from Hartnell, but did anyone really think last year was going to be the norm with him or Talbot?
And Couturier is in the typical 2nd year funk. As long as he is playing responsible hockey, the goals will come around later.
Fedotenko should never have been counted on for goals.
And Danny....?

Those secondary guys have me as pissed off as anyone. Fedetenko, Talbot and Coburn have been in the league long enough. At the very least they should provide the team with some effort, and a safety blanket to rely on that if nothing else.

All 3 have been horrific all season long. For apparently being defensive specialists that provide energy, Talbot and Fedetenko should watch a few shifts that Lappy/Betts had together.

Coburn is playing in a different league this year. I'm convinced he isn't in that uniform.

I can't argue with this, I haven't had a chance to watch many Flyers games this year, but he does seem to have consistency issues.
- Rayven

Which would be fine if he was paid like a guy like Niemi for example.

He is not. Bryzgalov is like that car you love, but you know is one fast acceleration from blowing up under your ass.

I didnt expect anything close to that from Talbot.

Hartnell has proven he is a top goal scoring power forward type averaging 25 goals a season over the past 5 years.

Other than Jake and RInaldo no one should get a pass from any of us for this so far though.

Coburn is an interesting case. I think he would be hard to replace, but if under the right deal I deal him in a second.

If you want a perfect image of what this team has been like ever since John Stevens look at Coburn's career ever since coming to Philly. Not saying it's his fault or something, but it really matches.

I actually don't have as much issue with Talbot this year. But I came into it expecting less than last year. Fedetenko is doing about what I expected him to do. When exactly did he become a "defensive" guy?
Lava is an issue, but some of the fingers should point to Homer. Now, this all might be different if the Weber deal hadn't fallen through.

Jake doesnt get a pass from me either. He came in out of shape, and played terrible hockey to start the season.

Its funny, I will admit I am a fan of his, but the only guy other than Grossman and Read, who has really been reliable for most of this season has been Rinaldo.

For a guy like Fedetenko who was brought in to provide defensive help, and some help on the PK he has been brutal. Provided barely any energy for the club, and I've seen far too many plays where he doesnt even try.

Talbot isnt expected to score. He is expected to give the team an energy infusion, provide strong defensive play, and help on the PK. He has done jack poop this season, in my eyes. Far too many shifts where he is out of position, feebly waving his stick or gliding doing nothing.

I would certainly agree with 25. the injuries haven't helped him. If he starts getting one every 3-4 games then he will be back to his normal self.

Yup at the start he wasnt bringing much but I think he has more then made up for that and seems to be the only player, along with Rinaldo , right now that even gets mad when bad things happen.

Whatever his issues at the start of the season they are gone now and those 2 are the only ones showing up.

My hockey highlight is being a goaltender in my high school's lunch floor hockey league. We were in grade 10 playing a grade 12 team that was far better. Somehow I pulled magic out of my ass and we won 1-0. Had the Flyer jersey on that day and some of the people in the stands (whole school watched these games), started cheering Philly throughout the game after some of my saves.

Good times

Edit: I am far too much like Bryzgalov. Crazy as hell, inconsistent and from Eastern Europe.

I wonder how much of this is no preseason and jumping into what is essentially play-off hockey.
At the very least, it was like starting an 82 game season at game 40, mentality wise. They just were not ready.
Jake is having a nice contract season and schenn is showing he can score at this level finally.

I have been pretty mild this year considering the ineptitude I have watched.

A loss tomorrow night, and all bets are off. I will go off like never before.

It will be open season on everything.

#Flyers Sean Couturier only played 2:52 of 1st period BUT was on the ice for 2 of the 3 goals #SophomoreSlump

Big part of it. Voracek has really stepped up, and the best part is he is leading the team. Which is far more than can be said for the "leadership" core of this team.

That is the biggest thing I have been looking for from the kids who are expected to be a part of the core. I would really like to see more of it from Brayden Schenn.

Why wait until tomorrow, this team is awful. Can you name more than 2 guys that have played well every game?
