Do you have any confidence inthis organization being able to bring in someone as an interim coach?

Or is it much more likely whoever replaces Lava is given a 2 year extension almost immediately.

Doesn't really matter. They're going to do what they're going to do. And keeping Laviolette is definitely a possibility.

I just dont see the Flyers making a change right now. I think they allow Lavi to finish out the year and then evaluate after that.

Completely OT. I had another fantastic trip to Philly! Other than the choke job the team pulled in the game. I'm still furious over that. Damnit!

We stayed in old city (shout out to carts and richie..i see why you loved it there) went to reading market which was awesome. Great food. Had a cheesesteak at Jim's steaks and also randomly came across the Mitchell and ness sports store which had some great retro flyers gear! (Bought a Bernie warmup jacket) . Just a great city and I love visiting (even though it snowed .. I mean I left my igloo to get away from that poop)

I am now 1 and 3 at flyers home games so I might have to staying away for a bit! Lol

For all the talk of getting them to play the right way, and creating a positive culture.

I want them to really think any decision through. Don't just do the easy thing of bringing in Murray and giving him a quick extension.

One thing I would totally agree with, is this organization and team need a culture change that reflects hard work first and foremost. No more nights off. That will go a long way toward making them a top team, and getting the young kids to build good habits.

The Flyers have a current coach whos style has proven to work and win a stanley cup. Now we may disagree that his style doesn't work with this team or he missed the playoffs multiple times. I'm more concerned about what direction the organization wants to go at this point. Right now it doesn't matter on the coach until they address what style their looking for.

They had the same in Ken Hitchcock. In fact, Hitch had been more successful than Laviolette.

You're asking organization questions. I have stated, several times that the Flyers biggest organization issue is that they chase other teams too often. They get beat by the Devils, they try to ape the Devils, to be physical and strong on defense. They fall to the Sabres, and they have to get faster, speedier. They lose to the Hawks and it's a sign that you can go cheap on the goalie as long as you have firepower. They lose to Boston and Boom! They need a big money goalie. Now they lose to NJ and again, they want to ape what the Devils are doing.

I want to do what the Devils do. Play a disciplined system that can be picked up and handled by any player willing to work hard and play with discipline.

The Devils never shied away from guys with reps as one way offensive players. they added guys like Mogilny, Richer, Kovalchuk and Zidlicky , but got them to buy into what they were doing and held them accountable.

The Devils have been successful with many different coaches because they only hire guys that work with the organization structure and are willing to adjust when needed, rather than make wholesale organization changes as soon as they lose a playoff round.

But as far as the coaching goes, Laviolette is so married to his system that he can't adapt.

If they spiral, or really get their ass handed to them I dont see Snider being too patient.

The best thing to do imo, is evaluate everything once the season is over, and make moves from there.

Maybe a little bit of a positive is Getzlaf has signed and Perry has not. One can dream.

When you say massive does that mean that teams would have to give up the moon for those players? Or we talking realistic here with a real chance of trading?
- stveshdy

If there's a guy who is worth the moon, such as Giroux, I wouldn't trade him unless I got the moon.

I don't think they would bring in someone like Murray and sign him to an extension. He would be coming in on an interim basis. I don't think that work ethic is an issue with this team.

So why is it difficult for the Flyers organization to make a decision and stick with it. Why do they feel the need to change every single year? Each style has its negatives and positives. Stop chasing other teams and worry about what you need to do.

I read online the other day that Perry wants to play on the East Coast.

That's a question for Ed Snider, not me. Maybe because he's 80 and wants to catch that lightning in the bottle every year. Maybe they are too tied to the Old boy network and won't bring in an outside GM to run things differently.

I agree. Snider is not patient and if we miss, changes will be made. I can see us going after perry if they buy briere out but really they need to use cap space to get a top dman.

They'll also need the cap space down the line for Giroux, Couturier, Schenn, etc.

I would be willing to trade for a top dman but not many are on the trade market.

Because the owner wants to win the cup yesterday.

It would take too long after deciding what the best direction would be, to commit to it, and bring in the players that fit that style.

Hope he's ready. One crunch from that ape lucic and he's back on the shelf. He pairs with Gus. I'm really liking Gus back there, and if we roll with those six, its not too bad IMO.

There's no top defenseman in free agency. Cap space is needed, but they'll have to move assets to get one, or throw another offer sheet out

I think we'll have to overpay with forwards and picks, I don't have a solution but just the problem here.

Any players you can think of that would be a good get on defense?
